Hoarding Issues
This week we get to explore an extreme hoarding situation. It appears as though the house has been abandoned for about 13 years since the latest date I could find was from 2011. The large home has not faired well during that time suffering from water damage due to a failing roof. The ceiling has completely collapsed in the master bedroom and insulation covers everything in the room. All of the personal belongings have been strewn about the house including boxes that used to be full of stuff. There was broken glass hidden beneath that clutter everywhere you walked making for a treacherous environment.
I was not able to find much definitive information about the previous owners other than a man who lived in the house was born in 1943 and presumably his wife who was born in 1961 in Hong Kong.
There is a rumour that both the husband and wife were doctors and the husband had their license revoked for a short period before he would later resign from his practice. The wife had continued to work in the field. I was not able to find any evidence of this in my research. However, I did learn that the husband worked as an airport supervisor from paperwork found in the home.
As for the reason why the house was abandoned, that we may never know but in situations like this, it is entirely possible that one or both of owners passed away.
Seeing the condition of this home, it could certainly be saved if someone wealthy had a lot of money to sink into the project but the reality is, with the extensive damage the building has received, it will likely be demolished in the future.

Definitely a Full House that's for sure. Probably a lot of antiques in this house still. 2 layers of dry wall isn't normal, in this house here it looks like it's covering up the popcorn ceiling and that sometimes contains asbestoso, so putting up a new layer of drywall, can be cheaper than removing the asbestos.
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces 3 ай бұрын
Interesting, I never noticed the second layer of drywall. As for asbestos, it's fine as long as you don't disturb it, once it is airborne, it's a problem. Thank you very much for your comment!!

Wow! Awesome video! That home looks like it was once a gorgeous place. The wooden banister was wonderful too! Some of the bathroom fixtures, like taps were pretty expensive. Such a shame that this house was destroyed by the mental issues of owners! (Don't forget your gloves next time, or respirator!) We all appreciate your efforts! Thanks for sharing.

From the name I saw in another video, the woman is still practicing as a doctor and the address on the letter addressed to her is still the location of that practice IIRC. I was actually the one who came up with the idea that both the occupants were doctors and that the male had lost his license to practice. He was not born in 1943 as there is a trophy with his name on it from high school with a date in the 1970s. The family names are very common so it's hard to research the names to see where they lead. The plot twist is the two names associated with this property's address are neither of the two individuals who I believe last lived there nor are they Asian names. One thing is for sure, this house has not been lived in for likely 20+ years. My guess with this home is that it was the childhood home of the male and he lived here with his elderly parents until they passed. That's why there was a high school trophy in one of the bedrooms. Once the parents passed, he inherited the home and lived there for several years with his wife before the hoarding got so bad they had to leave. Now the home sits empty as the couple waits for the value to increase before it is sold for the land. It's in an area with a lot of new, large homes.

Well that explains why I wasn't able to find anything about them being doctors. I am going from the passports I found in the house. The man born in 1943 must have been the doctors' father. The woman from Hong Kong, well, I really don't know now but from what I remember their passport expiry dates were from the same time but there is an 18 year age gap. As for the 20 years abandonment, I don't think it has been that long since I found dates on something from 2011 which would make it about 13 years. You did do some pretty great sleuthing though! Thanks very much for your research and for the comment!!

This is very disturbing the pollution that was created, the damage from the horde. while seeing this was both interesting and disturbing. I bet you found it so hard as you are the kind of explorer that doesn’t like to disturb the area and you leave things as you found it. That must have been nearly impossible. I could see pieces that were so cool too. I really liked the toys you showed. I would be so tempted to take or rescue the Donald Duck clock I loved it! See this is why I can’t do what you do, I would see something I thought was wonderful and want to take it. I’m despicable. Thank you for showing us this stressful horde. It was interesting and nerve wrecking , seeing all the waste of money, time and space !

Hi again. Waow. What a mess. So much stuff that you can hardly even see the layout of the place. Most of the stuff is rubbish/trash/garbage, but there’s some stuff there that could’ve been salvaged and or donated. Although in saying that maybe not for all the germs in the place and what not. Good on you for getting around it. Most people would have opened the door and been like “nope”. I’m sure this was a nice house before all that stuff was gathered up. Nice windows and stairway and that piano still looked in good condition. Can’t imagine doctors would treat a house like this but could well have been. Thanks very much for the video! Very interesting.

Wow 😮 this is one for the record books. I can see through all the rubbish that at one time they had nice, expensive furniture. The grand piano is very nice and expensive just left to decay. This is a severe mental illness that affects the entire family. It’s sad that children had to live in this squalor. The grand staircase is slap dab in the middle of a dumpster disaster. Interesting but sad video James.

I follow a woman who goes in and cleans hoarder homes and it's absolutely tied in with mental health, but it makes me sad thinking how it mentally affected them as well... and then there's offshoots like physical health (because there's no way to clean in that situation, so mold & dust would be an issue), and it likely affected their money situation too. It's too bad it was so cluttered, because there were definite 'treasures'-- the arched windows upstairs, the blue tub and toilet (thank goodness the bathroom mirror wasn't broken!), the retro 80's sofa(s?) upstairs, the stone fireplace in the family room, the wooden staircase railing, and of course the beautiful piano. Anyway, thanks for going in and checking it out (i would've ran in the other direction 😂). Now, go to your doctors' place and get a tetanus shot. 😜

😢😬😩🤢 WOW 😳 This is definitely a hoarder situation along with vandalism from idiots in my opinion. The plastic bags on door knobs etc the empty plastic soda bottles, tons of boxes , to name a few things that are red flags for a hoarder situation. It's sad in general but appears a child lived there at some point 😞. It's interesting because they did have some nice furniture around here and there but also old stuff it's strange. They had pictures hung up , decorations at some point, clothes, and the house had some good features like some of the windows, bathroom tiles. Appears everything was left, all the clothes in closets etc, men and women and a child belongings as if they just walk out one day or maybe a death happen and the remaining family said nope not dealing with this horrific home. I pray the child is in better circumstances at least 😢 The nasty hand marks around the light switches and stairs, walls is usually a sign of a horder trying to navigate all the trash to walk over it's truly disturbing. Usually a horder starts hording everything even trash due to some kind of trauma in their life like a death of a spouse, family members or children etc. Somehow keeping everything is a coping mechanism from losing something or someone so they hold on to everything. Also some in addition buy multiple items of the samething as well like dolls ,stuff animals, glassware, clothing, etc. Some buy online items everyday and just stack it all up and even useless trash and junk as we see . So many people need mental health care in many ways it's heartbreaking. Interesting video and a look into a horrific situation. I hope people reach out for help themselves or the family members of these people if any are left, or friends, neighbors . They certainly need help with therapy and or medication this is a bad way to live it's so heartbreaking to me. Thanks as always for a video it's always interesting and to imagine the story behind these homes and people or locations abandoned as well you show us. Disclaimer: People who collect dolls, stuff animals or anything they like is not a hoarder, it's the chaos of collecting everything with no purpose and just hording everything like this situation. Many people collect things but not a hoarder.

Yes hoarding really is a sad situation and there's no doubt that someone in this house had a problem. Hopefully they got some help. Buying multiples of things isn't necessarily a sign of hoarding though, can be a sign of smart financial decisions or something that has been discontinued. Thank you very much for your input as always!!
@choosewisely6994
@choosewisely6994 3 ай бұрын
@@StaticSpaces Yes , I understand buying multiples is not necessarily a hoarder situation. I buy in bulk from Amazon household items it's often cheaper like toilet paper, paper towels, cereal, trash bags etc. I understand that is not hordering. Items you actually use and buy in bulk. Also collectors of paintings, cars, old stuff anything that is considered a personal collection for someone. All kinds baseball cards etc . I knew a lady that bought multiples of the egg cookers to make boiled eggs. She bought twenty then the next month bought 35. She never used them, or gave away, resold them, or gave as gifts . She just keeps them in the boxes in a bedroom. She buys stuff like this all the time different items does the same thing with everything. Electric coffee makers, tea pitchers, Christmas lights ( never used them) towels, flower pots and the list goes on and on. Everything is in box in a room and garage. Years of this buying multiples never doing anything with them. This was what I was speaking of when talking about buying multiples. Take Care Enjoyed the video it was interesting.
