You are an ambulance, well. But what ist the "als chase unit, sussex medic 102" for?
@SpeedbirdFF
@SpeedbirdFF 3 жыл бұрын
On the Delaware side of the border, paramedic crews come from a County run ALS agency. They respond in “chase units” and bring ALS equipment with them. Fire Depts operate BLS ambulances and handle transport and BLS care.

@@SpeedbirdFF we got here in germany a system, called "first responder". In the most cases it is 100% volunteer and only a normal car with an off-duty paramedic. He responds with medical Equipment to the call and at the same time is a on-duty ambulance responding for the transport. But in the most cases, the first responder is quicker at the scene. Is this system like yours, or did I missunderstand this? Thanks for your feedback ☺️

I like the compilation of calls from your shift. It gives us an idea of what kind of calls and when you have to respond. I also like the camera above the ambulance lightbar. If the alarm-drop had been in an area where there were no hydrants, what equipment would have responded first?
@SpeedbirdFF
@SpeedbirdFF 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Bruce! Engine-Tanker 74-2 would respond first in a non-hydrant area, it has more water.

They have a tanker / pumper for a first out engine for a call in those areas ( holds around 2500 gallons of water I do believe)

Ive noticed whenever you guys get on route 13 (I have family in Delaware I know the roads well) you use the powercall siren Is that SOP?
@SpeedbirdFF
@SpeedbirdFF 6 жыл бұрын
James Cyr Thanks for watching James! No, there is no specific SOP for siren sound usage. Everyone uses it differently, often times at random. The State where I began my career had very strict and specific laws regarding siren usage, in particular what sounds were legal (only 2 sounds were legal Wail and Yelp) and in what specific situations you had to use the different sounds. That quickly became a habit that I continued when I moved to this area. However for me, I’ve gradually changed that habit (although I definitely have a tendency to revert back to it without even thinking about it) and with the multiple siren sounds available I try to change them up more with situations such as traffic conditions or speed, to make the siren more effective. Other times I’m not as focused on the sound, such as when a dispatcher is giving a report or our crew is discussing a plan of action, then the siren stays in one mode for long periods of time.

Kinda busy eh? My department gets 6 calls a week haha but we are somewhat rural and are volunteer. We also don’t have live ins
@SpeedbirdFF
@SpeedbirdFF 6 жыл бұрын
Jackson Rigney Delmar stays fairly busy, this last year overall has been very busy, we were running 8, 9, even 10 or more calls for a while. I would say 6 is our average. I’m also in a fairly rural area so 6 a day is considered to be a busy station. My volunteer station is very slow, we can go a week or more without a call.
