An introduction to weather station models including how they display weather variables like temperature, air pressure, dew point, cloud cover, precipitation, wind direction, and wind speed. These diagrams are frequently used on surface weather maps to display large amounts of data in a small space.

Knots are based on nautical miles, which are about 15% greater than standard miles, on which other measures, such as visibility, are base. Great synthetical video packed with useful informations !

A very important thing to note: according to UCAR's Comet MetEd, weather station models list the ambient and dewpoint temperature in degrees Celsius and visibilities in kilometers. I have no idea where you got the Fahrenheit/miles idea from, but station models are meant to be interpreted from weather stations around the world. The United States of America is one of only three countries in the world who still use the imperial system, the others being Liberia and Myanmar. The rest of the world uses the metric system, so it logically follows that weather station models use the metric system as well.

Great video, but isn't your present weather symbol incorrect if you wanted it to be fog? I thought fog is horizontal lines. The symbol you are using looks more like smoke. Either way, you do an excellent job describing station models, which so many students find difficult. Thank you for creating this video.

@mikesammartano

Humid just means the air is holding a lot of moisture compared to how much it could hold at a given temperature - so yes, humid and snow happens!
