Haha, Mick! You were on fire at the start (literally) and finished with a bang! An entertaining, not to mention useful primer for the rocketry update - thanks very much. :) You may not think this first new rocket of yours qualified as "single use" as you didn't get any ores back, but consider: Your rocket _did_ see single use as an explosive excavator - you now have the majority of your flame-pit under the rocket pad cleared out. Never mind the extensive structural damage caused by the rocket re-entry ... as the late Sir Joh would have said: "Don't you worry about that!"

I love this update man! I got a rocket up and running pretty quick, did some scanning and mining. Now I'm experimenting with pumped liquid engines... because I'm still wrapping my brain around the phase changes it's been challenging. I think I've almost got it, and I hope to say 'eureka' soon. I think the space resources are finite now, but I'm still learning things. Was excited to see your first video on this.
@cowsareevil7514 Жыл бұрын
Resources do look to be finite, but you can now choose what you want to mine. The rocket looks simple enough but the fuel farm is going to be interesting.

I think if you wanted a rocket in your or near you would need to build an exhaust duct for the rocket launch pad to vent the engine exhaust away from anything that can be damaged
@LeviathanWebWorks10 ай бұрын
Watching this a bit late -- one thing that I found that prevents the rocket from burning stuff up is to give the exhaust somewhere to go -- like what NASA's launch pads have, make an exhaust redirect tunnel beneath that makes a J shape under the pad with a hole that goes back to atmo a little ways away.

Theres a reason, why the Ice Crusher is slower now: When you crush Ice, it cools down the internal atmosphere of the crusher. The Crusher realises that and heats its internal atmosphere up, which takes time. If you hover over the "information panel" of the crusher it tells you its heating up its internal atmosphere. There is a way to change this: Write the temperature, to heat up to in Kelvin, to the Setting-Value of the Crusher (Logic Writer). Be careful though! I accidently almost destroyed my base by setting it to 270 K and overpressurising the pipes....
@coffee_quaffer Жыл бұрын
Was going to post this, bang on. 274K has been a happy setting for me.
@RSOFT92 Жыл бұрын
@@coffee_quaffer Thank you! I discovered it while waiting for Volatile Ice to be crushed and thought "is this really that slow?" For Oxygen/Nitrogen i use 270K (there is a filtration behind it and i am feeding it slowly) but for Volatiles 285K is my lowest setting.

I had the same issue with the rocket running away and not landing. It seems you have to turn auto land off and back on again. on the rocket screen in the top middle is a picture of the rocket with a little arrow pointing down. click to turn it off and then back on. during the next landing check altitude to make sure the rocket is actually returning. update: didn't watch the ending until after my original post. The crash was the result of the runaway rocket running out of fuel and eventually being brought back down by gravity. I always clicked abandon on the rockets that ran out of fuel before they came back down.
