Stationeers Getting started on Mars 1

This is a guide to setting up a basic starter base for Mars. We start with our lander and finish with a sealed base that is temperature and pressure controlled and can use the phase change to scrub out the pollutant from the base. Some basic logic automation for a set and forget greenhouse.

Your previous video made me start playing again since phase change happened. Sucking in night time mars atmosphere to 5Mpa with an AC on there to keep it at -20 works great for large volumes of nitrogen and oxygen. During the day after the polutant and co2 are all gone i run it through 2 filtration units into the storage tanks to a min pressure of 5Mpa. Mars is so easy now.
@Altaree1
@Altaree1 7 ай бұрын
For the venting speed it helps to think of the pipe and vent as one unit and the furnace as another. The furnace transfers X/min to the pipe up to the current pressure of the furnace. The vent then transfers the combined volume of the vent and pipe to the atmosphere. If the space in the pipe is very small, very little is transferred per tic. If the space in the pipe is large, more can be transferred per tic.

I did a very efficient hydrogen generator facility on mars using the new update with phase change. I force the atmosfere with a power vent during the night (temperature below -50 celsius) into a sistem of gas pipes (at 7MP) and i have 4 condensation valves that "filter" the liquid into a liquid pipes sistem and a small liquid tank. And then this liquid is "sprayied" into the room with generator when temperature is raising there and is a very eficcient cooler. In this room i also have vents that are taking out the exces of atmosphere.

Gas transfer goes faster with more pipes because of a larger volume on one side of the equation. Zero pipes with just the cowling has a small volume, more pipes --> more volume for both the trade between the furnace and pipes, as well as the pipes and atmosphere.

Thanks for this post-phase-change tutorial, Mick - Some excellent examples of "good enough" solutions for early survival which have you sorted by game day 2 or 3 🍻- The OCD Violation alarm is a nice touch! - That said, I did have a bit of a "Mr. Arkwright"* moment with the initial solution for gas welder refill. But it was very soon made redundant with the arrival of the arc welder :) * This reference is probably well beyond the time of many folks these days, but for the record: Mr. Arkwright was a character in UK tv show "Open All Hours", featuring Ronnie Barker and ably assisted by (a very young at the time) David Jason.

@@cowsareevil7514 I will call it magic cooling lol. nothing in the gas network reaches outside except for the pollutant purge that's done with insulated pipe from the filter. or is that it? the pollutant is pulling the heat from the network before it's purged... hmmm
@NZOrbital
@NZOrbital 7 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video. Do the one way valves restrict airflow in the pipe network so that a pipe section has pressure required to cause the pollutant to condense? Do you need specifically 2 valves to make this work?
@cowsareevil7514
@cowsareevil7514 7 ай бұрын
There is a restriction of flow from one system to another. The valves seperate the pipe network into multiple systems so the flow calculation causes a build up of pressure. In this case 2 was enough. Different networks may have different requirements. Trial and error different combinations until you get the pressure you want.

@cowsareevil7514

I made the series because there wasn't much available. Trial and error was my training so I am probably still making errors or haven't discovered things that would make life easier. Start simple is the trick.

I really wish they hadn't put out the phase change update. It didn't really add anything useful to the game and just made things excessively complicated, especially since some conventions had to be made to even implement it. I've not played since getting frustrated with it shortly after release, and I loved this game before.

I appreciate your efforts to remain OCD compliant, but I have to ask, what happened to the graphs? Either way, a fantastic return and as a newer player to the game (just bought it a few days ago) very glad that you've explained the new phase changes which I couldn't begin to understand on my own.

So you don't have to leave a circuit connected to run the vent? Like when you activate the logic it writes to the vent and then you can use it for something else?

is there a reason not to put the locker in the airlock, so the contents are accessible whether you are outside or inside?
@Dragoonx3690
@Dragoonx3690 7 ай бұрын
It comes down to space management honestly. Early game making airlocks bigger than 1x1 is a pain. But tbh i like ur thinking and will probably make a larger airlock on my base now😂
@Touay.
@Touay. 7 ай бұрын
@@Dragoonx3690 It is a squeeze, but you can get the full locker into a 1x1 airlock. I was just wondering if there is a reason not to do that...

I really enjoy watching you play this game. I, however, wanted to like it, but I don't. The U.I. is absolutely terrible. I find myself constantly fighting it. The ways tools are implemented, it sometimes makes little sense. I think less might have been better. The game feels more like trial and error than anything else. So little is even remotely explained. There is also a lot of stuff that doesn't work the way it should. I played a lot of Kerbal Space Program, so it's not like I can't figure things out logically. It's just that so many elements in this game seem sort of random or convoluted. There also hasn't been a decent update for quite a while now. I would also like the game to not feel so pointless. Like I said, though, your videos are entertaining and fun. I think I'll just watch instead of trying to play the game.
