Those sailor inks are chromoshading, so the color on the box, bottle, label, and paper will have variations. I love those inks!

The mark on pens are designed for the mildliners to be used on top. Archer and Olive has decent blues in their calliograph pens

You can use the tear off palette papers for collages. Just spread out the colour on the palette when you’re done painting and let it dry. Surprisingly useful.

Hey Helen, when i paint with oil paints i like to up cycle styrofoam egg cartons. The bottom where the eggs sit is where I put the paint and rhe lid is where i mix my colors. You can close tge lid in between use. The paints also seem to remain useable for several days before i need to refresh them. Also no need to justify treating yourself.

I need to make it a priority to use my gouache! I bought some to try it again since art school because you can so readily travel with it! If you want a reusable palette, you could use a ceramic plate from the dollar store or something and it should be easy clean up! I also have a reusable travel one too if you want a link, I was recommended it by Sarah Burns Studio here on KZbin and she uses gouache if you want inspiration!Hope you enjoy 😊

There is such a thing as retail therapy, you know, and we stationery lovers know exactly how exciting it is to get a new haul. I love your idea of using separate planners for different languages. I just may try that next year, too. Thank you for the inspiration. BTW, the late composer Stephen Sondheim loved Blackwing pencils because the lead is so soft and he would have to sharpen them frequently. That made him feel productive. I rarely use pencils, but when I do, they're often Blackwing because the lead is dark. Enjoy your haul!

So exciting to see your "artist" side! You're going to love the Blackwings. The lead hardness is a personal preference as to what type of paper you're sketching on. But the fact that you can achieve a whole shade range with just one pencil (instead of 6 or 7) makes the price of them so worth it! Mark-on pens are great for transparent sticky notes! And Tombows--I use them on a daily in the Hobo, when I'm short on time, I grab my waterbrush and use them like paints (I only use waterproof uniball signo ink to journal). You are deserving of "ALL" the things.

I picked up the Take A Note 2023 planner. Definitely the paper is different from Hobonichi as fountain ink seems to sit on it a bit longer before drying! The planner layout itself works better for work planning as it only does monthly and weeklies!

An old art teacher would have us use cleaned Styrofoam trays (leftover from food packaging such as for meat or fresh noodles) as a pallet for acrylic paints. Still very disposable but use what would have been garbage for one more purpose.

Hi Helen. Lovely video as usual. I couldn't agree more about the blue Tombows, have you tried Ecoline pens? They do a pastel set, or just try the blue number 580. It is much less saturated than other blues. They are gorgeous pens, very juicy and they are fine on the hobo paper. I can't wait for the new releases. You can replace the eraser on the alpha gel mechanical pencil (jetpens sells them) so you don't have to worry as much about the lead dropping out of your pink one!

Don’t put yourself down! In general, but also when it comes to software development / programming. It’s a trial error learning process especially now in the world where technology changes fast. School give you the idea on how to analyze the things you are trying to create but rest is mostly selfstudy and trials and lots of errors. The programming language I started with, Pascal (like 100 years ago), is not even used anymore. 😂 Knowing it still gives me good base for being able to understand structure of other programming languages faster when I need to.

Omggg that big mop brush reminded me of my grade school/high school days and we used it for Chinese calligraphy. I was never good at it and it was a struggle for me, I was never an artsy person but my brother did it really well. I’d end up going home with blotches of ink on my uniform. Hahaha. Hello Helen! I have a suggestion for your new monthly planner that you'll use to figure out your schedule for the entire year. Back in the day, I also had need of such a planner because I did crafting (cardmaking) videos - up to 3 a week. Which required planning ahead, coordinating with the manufacturers of the products I featured (I chose to work with those whose products I had bought myself and loved), other bloggers/creators when we had blog-hops and giveaways, etc. It was a somewhat grueling schedule, and seeing it all laid out in a monthly spread (I used the A4 Moleskine planner for that) was really helpful, so I think you'll benefit greatly from your new planner. When it comes to pens - I would suggest to look into erasable pens (I like the Pilot Frixion which come in different colors and widths). As much as we try to plan ahead, unforeseen stuff just happens and then it's frustrating to start whiting out stuff in the spreads or write around it. Erasable pens make it much easier. Or little post-its. I'd cut them down to size (had different colors) and if plans changed, I could just pull them off and stick them on another day. Just a thought that might be helpful to you. Loved seeing this haul! I personally love the Zebra mild liner light blue which also comes in brush form. Maybe you could try that one out? It’s not too saturated or dark, a nice icy blue, and I really like it for that reason. Just letting you know if you haven’t tried it already

Just sent you a DM on IG with a picture of some swatches, but just in case you don’t see that, I heard you mention that you can’t find pastel blue markers that are less saturated. I have found 2 so far that are actually really night and super pale. I’m not sure how easy it is to get either of them, but figured I’d share. One is the Archer & Olive Calliograph in the shade “barely blue” and the other is a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen in the shade “light indigo 220”.

Hi. I decided to get some disposable pallet paper as well and it did in fact help me paint more often because I also put it off due to the set-up and clean up. Thank you for sharing this. Also maybe you can use the index tabs in your new Spanish and French books. I think that getting those books for that was a great idea. I just starting using a fountain pen yesterday :) and I am in love! I want all the inks now. I really liked that purple one also. Have fun enjoying all your goodies, you definitely deserve it.

I know it’s unsolicited advice but my daughter struggles like this too and her therapist told her to actually write out goals she wants to achieve and personal issues she wants to work through (like an irrational lack of confidence) and tape them where she can see them like the start of her bedroom wall or her bathroom mirror. It has helped her so far.
