What I'm enjoying about your content is you don't leave me feeling "bad" for having ALL of the things but instead I feel encouraged to use and love the things I have.

This was so good to watch. This is why I haven't bought washi for nearly three years now... I have plenty and I'm using what I have before I buy more.

I appreciate that you focus on being Eco friendly about stationery. It’s such a plastic heavy industry.

Thank you! It is such a plastic heavy industry, and though it’s a wonderful hobby for expression, I am exploring ways to reduce waste where I can.

Hey! I just found your channel today, and just wanted to say that I love and appreciate your approach, especially in the midst of rampant consumerism/FOMO marketing in the planner/journaling world. I also wanted to let you know in case you weren't already aware, terracycle does a free pen/pencil recycling program with BIC.

Thanks for letting me know about the terracycle program! That’s great some companies are trying to help with reducing waste. And thank you for your kind comment. :)

This was so satisfying to watch 😄 I’m inspired to use my things and have an empties basket to see how much I use!

It’s a deep rabbit hole, but know it took me Years to get here. It’s a process. Good luck on your journey to simplify!

The 42 empty pens are terribly impressive! I don‘t think I ever empty pens. Neither do I finish ink bottles so I clearly do not write enough. And I only finished washi rolls when I thought to stick all my loose buttons on rows of washi tape.

This video is so satisfying! I'm motivated to keep my empties this year because it IS interesting to see how much we've used. Also, I too realized this year that it's not prudent to keep things I don't like. Happy new year to you and your family.

Thank you! It’s such an interesting way to see overall, how much one really uses in a year. It’s very satisfying. Happy New Year to you and yours, and I do hope you give this a try. :)

I must say, I find comfort in your videos. They are soothing and interesting to watch. As a woman who is also into journaling, I find comfort in your minimalistic yet aesthetic nature of journaling. It has allowed me to really enjoy the supplies I have. Take care.

I had the same problem with different type gel ink pens and all I did was add a few drops of water to the ink and they worked again.

Happy 2021! I like seeing empties videos, I do find it motivating to use up the things! I can't imagine having to hold onto the garbage until sharing so thank you for that!

You are an inspiration! Now that I’ve found a journaling system and supplies that actually work for me, I have no need to keep “exploring” new stuff. So, time to commit to #stationeryminimalism for 2021.

@Ashlyn Drewek I'm still searching for a journaling system (and struggling), would you be willing to write a few sentences of your process? Thanks!

@@kitgenz1114 Absolutely! I do what’s called an “omni journal.” Key Lime Ink here on KZbin is the one who got me hooked on it and it’s been awesome. Basically, instead of carrying a daily journal AND a planner, you combine them into one. In my case, I use the Moleskine Expanded (400 pages). When you open it the “normal way,” you’ll find my daily journal entries. I use at least one page for every day and I always start on a new page. I just like the way it looks. I’ll either write a long entry about whatever, a couple quick blurbs throughout the day, or even just a “log” at night of the highlights. Sometimes I even just doodle or practice handlettering. I also use this journal to write down quotes, lists, things I’m researching. Whatever. Being an Omni journal means it should be your one-stop-shop for all your journal/notebook needs. Then for the planner part, simply flip the notebook over and basically do your own planner/bullet journal in the back. I only use a future log and a week on one page (horizontal layout, just works better for me. When the two sections meet up toward the back of the book (because planning usually doesn’t take up that many pages), I archive it and move to the next one. I’ve done it with three journals so far and I’m hard pressed to say I’ll ever go back to using a separate planner and notebook again. I like the simplicity of one book. And I like that one book lasts ~6 months, so if I need to go back and reference something, I don’t have to search through 6 different notebooks. I hope this helps! I’m happy to answer any other questions. 😊

Hi! 🥰 Have you considered refilling some of those pen bodies to be a tiny bit more eco friendly? Aka- when you minimize your collection enough to be able to just refill. 🥰

I've had good luck blowing in the end of it. Also tapping the nib on paper sometimes works. If I can't get it to work, I take it apart and use the ink to paint or do brush lettering.

Thank you for a most interesting video. It never occurred to me to hold onto the empties. Very informative. Makes me wish that more manufacturers created refills for their pens. I do refill my microns actually, that's easier than one images. Gel pens are harder to do refill hacks with though. Appreciate your videos. Happy New Year.

Yes, I have heard some people refilling gel pens, but it seems like more work than refilling fountain pens to me, so I stick with fountain pens. It would be great if Papermate inkjoys made refills. Happy New Year to you!

I admire the self control to save the empty things. I am so happy when I use a sticker sheet up, that I have to get rid of it at once. But I agree, we hoard things until we are bored of them and if we just used what we have more, everything would be so much better

Heat the pens with a lighter flame. That always works for me when the ink won’t flow. It burns off the dried up ink that is stopping the ball from rolling.

Good job! I have two full white Signo Broad pens that just quit working. I, too, tried everything, including taking the refill out and blowing into it. It would work for a stroke or two and quit again. Frustrating! You mentioned that your office is empty. Are you redoing it?
