You make every problem seem like 1+1=2, when my instructor explains it, she's alllll over the place and makes it so much harder than it has to be. She also adds solutions that aren't even asked for in the original problem.

For getting the k value for sd, why we are using upper range/value not lower range/value? Or can we use both, if so then the sd would be changed for rule

doesn’t the mean and median need to be the same to be a normal bell-shaped distribution? I found the my data is skewed to the right, yet 100% of the data is within 2 SD from the mean.. did I do something wrong?

Sir? how about suppose that at least 68% of scores in a normal distribution fall between a score of 7 to 10. you need to find the approximate mean and standard deviation of these data. i dont know how to solve it. can you help me?

as I understand it...he did give you the K value once he solved it for the larger number. because its the same std (3) one is just plus and one is minus - the problem already gave the weight ranges. hope that helped.

so by normal distribution for the first problem, would you say the distribution would also be either symmetrical or uniform? My statistics class uses different terminology on this.

x bar is what we use for the notation when we are talking about a sample. mu is the mean of a population.

The 2 from the first example comes as a result of using the empirical rule. We want to know a range that captures 95% of our data. According to the rule, we'll need to look at 2 standard deviations on either side of our mean. :^D
