Interesting when I was in High School years 2000-2004 we did not have AP Human Geography. Now I looked into the content of this course and it’s brilliant! Everyone should learn this in school. Dartmouth alum and honestly while I love that campus and think the education was excellent I’m not sure if I buy into the prestige angle as much now. My two kids attended two different private universities which cost a fraction of what my education did(excluding scholarships) and nearly all of the professors held doctorates and had some body of work published. I was very impressed with the credentials of some I must say. So I looked around and I saw a wealth of qualified professors, some who even taught at community colleges. Thats amazing compared to when I went to uni. But with all that said, good luck in Stanford. Tremendous college with tons of networking opportunities. Make the most of your time but try to have a little fun too. It’s over before you know it!

Wow! A 4.85 GPA is very impressive which means you must have gotten all A for your AP classes, yet somehow got 4/5 on some AP tests. It’s awesome you still got into all those great Universities. I know a kid in my school who got a C in AP comp Sci, and a B in AP US history class , but he has a 5 in the actual AP tests. He’s good enough at Comp sci to teach it to underprivileged kids over summer. He just scores low in the classes because he doesnt bother to turn stuff in on time (in any class) and waits till he fully absorb the material in his own time. I wonder how they treat applicants like that. Not well, I assume.

Hey! Just wanted to say your video was very informative however I have a question about the balance of my academics. You see, I have a lot of AP classes and honors, I'm secretary in a club, have an extra class and trying out for swimming team (trying not to brag) however ever since covid which was freshman year, my grades have not been the best. . .no they are barely passing and now I have to retake some classes to get better grades. Anyway, I'm trying to get a good SAT score with khan academy and college board PSATs, so hopefully I get one 1500 or above. That being said, my GPA is 2.8 and I know it's a turn off to many colleges but do you think a high SAT score and "advanced" classes will increase my chances??? I'm in sophomore year, I still got time but I'm really worried, please let me know what I should do, im already going to tutoring and other programs.

But I think, it's yet not enough for my college application! Coz I don't have much idea about this
@catev.72444 жыл бұрын
I think those are really good extracurriculars because it shows how passionate you are about singing and music! I actually still am in high school too but from what I've read, colleges really like the extracurriculars that are related or "focused" on your main passion. But they also like to see that your not a one sided person so your other extracurriculars help with that. Overall I think you're doing great for a sophomore and good luck!
@laurkalise4 жыл бұрын
Try watching YesReneau on KZbin! She has a lot of vids on what it takes to get into ivys and in one of them she stresses the importance of being “pointy” rather than well-rounded. In other words colleges want a well-rounded class, not a bunch of well-rounded students. So if you purely enjoy music and something else then they rather have you excel in those two things than have a million things on your application that just seem forced and out of place :)

@joynobarak42724 жыл бұрын
wait what if your school doesn't have any AP or Honors
@ellabanchieri81143 жыл бұрын
colleges focus a lot on the context of your application, basically the resources you were offered and how much you took advantage of them. so if someone goes to a high school with great clubs and lots of AP classes, colleges will expect them to have more ECs/ AP classes than someone who goes to a school with only a couple clubs/AP classes. But if someone goes to a school with not a lot of resources but still did as much as they could to get into college: taking the hard classes that were available, doing the clubs that were there (or maybe starting their own club!) it shows they’re very resourceful and know how to make the most with what they have, that’s a very valued trait in college applications. Just make sure to keep your grades as high as possible (if your school doesn’t do weighted GPAs colleges will compare your unweighted GPA with the other applicants unweighted ones) and be active in your schools community. Good luck!

Usually act or sat is necessary for most, but corona has made it different for class of 2021. Check with each university to know their individual preferences. *in my experience/opinion* if colleges know you've taken ap classes but you don't send the score you got, it could look bad or like you did poorly on the exam. If you're questioning it, I personally would say go ahead and send them. That said, most colleges don't require ap scores like they usually do for act/sat
