My fixture has black & white wires that are grouped together so that what I have to work with is 2 wires encased in a clear wrapping. Which is which? And if the wires are not neatly together but messy, do I have to cut them and expose the neatly assembled wires? Thanks.

So I notice that the first fixture had a pull string, did you had the get an electrical person to which out ? I have the same issue but there’s no wall on/off switch which means I have to still get a pull string which I don’t like. Help!! Hope that makes sense.
