Alan quoting "There'll always be a future for rock". he said that almost 40 years ago. So far he's been proved right. While other trends come and go, rock carries on developing in it's own time and it's own way.
@jonnykhatru7 ай бұрын
Funny how 11 years ago this was still just about true but now rock has really fallen out of popular relevance. End of an era!
@NorsePJ7 ай бұрын
He was right, there'll always be a place for rock. Many trends come and go, but rock is still here, albeit to various degrees but it remains. PS: You'll probably be surprised getting responses 11 years after leaving your comment.

It’s just how musicians, and everyone responded to the media back then. The media, unlike now (and for good reason), were respected. Also, people were generally more respectful to each other.

You could see then that Alan was a heavy metal man, and if they started any of that pop band nonsense he was gonna get the shit out of there. I really miss these heavy status quo days. Rebels and renegades long before punk came along!

Songs ..'someone's learning', 'big fat mama' or 'roll over lay down' were totally heavy rock songs with aspects of an dramatic thriller. 'Blue For You' was a heavy rock vinyl .. .. later on: The music band became 'little Quo'.

@@stefanbarnert2478 Hey Stefan - totally agree!! My old band used to do a "Heep" of great songs from both Uriah Heep and Status Quo - we recently got the still alive band members back together in Manchester and played a few Pubs. BFM, ROLD, Down Down, Don't Waste My Time, Rain and 4500 my all-time favourites!

I agree with you .. think on 'On The Level' - song 'over and done': "Can you look into my eyes and tell me that there's nothing wrong I know you know it's not the same, it's not the same old song It's over and over and over, I told you it's over and done None of us are getting younger and we all want to be a millionaire And when you stop to think about it, it seems unfair But if you never stop to think at all you'd never be aware And never understand the meaning of the love we share".. I mean, that Alan Lancaster gave us a reference in this part of the song 'over and done': Status Quo band will get a split .. after 1976 'little quo' .. 1986 'in the army now' .. .. the 'splitted quo' band became an non authentic band - nearly a cover band!

@@stefanbarnert2478 To be fair his songs Over and Done and Broken Man off On The Level could mean that. However he was going through a messy divorce with his first wife at the time as well. So they could have had other meanings.
