First time i saw Quo was Jeff’s first tour ! It was great 👑🙂

Jeff raised some valid points in this clip. The _Rock 'til You Drop_ Quo mini-tour in a day, _Under the Influence_ pub gigs, and three cover albums were all a bit OTT, and I think all the members of the band have publicly said as much. But it was all for publicity, intended to keep the name of Status Quo "out there", to show that they're still rockin' and haven't gone away.

Jeff Rich is an amazing drummer. My favourite Quo drummer. Powerhouse and legend!

It's nice to see Jecf Rich in conversation sounds like a non nonsense type of guy. He's had it time in the band which he enjoyed emensly had a great time. Now he's doing workshops in schools and colleges teaching the next generation of musicians. What a great idea 💡 👏 👌 and a nice way of meeting people fans of Status Quo or not.

The gist of the lawsuit with Radio 1 was due to the band not being paid for their appearance at the Party In The Park concert, but some sort of arrangement was made and the BBC didn't hold up their end. They also asked the band to release the Roadhouse Medley as a single from the concert, but they didn't play it... "allegedly"

I know but....... God love Brian he has been drugged up to his eyeballs for most of his adult life, a doctor and two minders toured with him all the time when he restarted his live performances. Really sad, looking at his musical legacy then looking at his life, and his dad was a right Bolli__

NOW you tell me! I met Francis and Rick at a book signing session once and was able to have a quick chat about the 1984 Milton Keynes gig. They both hated it, but I was there and thought is was great!

I think the cover albums were agreed by the record company and the band as a way of forfilling the bands contractual obligations to deliver albums... decent content with yhin on the ground, so they brought out that guff instead. I may be wrong 🤷♂️

As far as I know, David Walker wanted them to do a covers album as far back as 1991. That's why the RTYD album is full of covers, and originals were either left to being B-Sides or CD only.
@wirelessboogie Жыл бұрын
@@UnofficialStatusQuo yes, many years later Rhino said somewhere that it was going to be a covers album following the success of Anniversary Waltz, but then Francis came with a few self-penned songs so the original plan changed. This didn't happen in 1995, 2000 and 2003, as Andy Bown said in another interview here, the band weren't writing good songs in those years (believe him or not). Rhino also said Quo recorded Don't Stop and Elton John's Saturday Is Alright For Fighting during those sessions (I'd love to hear both songs with the RTYD sound!)
@UnofficialStatusQuo Жыл бұрын
@wirelessboogie they also weren't going to be allowed to release Heavy Traffic if they didn't give the record company another covers album, which is why we ended up with Riffs (Originally "Rockin' All Over The Riffs"). I've read / heard "Don't Stop" was tinkered with during the RTYD sessions, but there isn't a recording still existing from then, from what I've seen / know of. Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting was played around with during the Don't Stop sessions, I don't think it was during RTYD. There's a recording of the band running through it, but there is no final mix / master recording. Another oddity that doesn't seem to exist is Quo's version of You're The Voice.
