I discovered this band i was 14, i am 57 now. I loved them so much and i still today. Perfect line up (Rossi, Parfitt,, Lancaster and Coghlan) at this time, great guitars, enormous bass guitar, and wonderful drums. God i still play their LP's from the 70's (best period for me), very loud, i do air guitar or air drums and my wife shout at me to say this is too loud. Well i'm still like a kid with my mates playing. Oh i was nearly going to forget: I am french and will dye still loving them. Thanks for all guys!!

I think they lost it when John went. He was the täteal back bone of the Quo sound.
@diterkalla3725 Жыл бұрын
@@adam90870 And I don't think Coglhan was the leader. If you look at the authors of individual songs, the most important are Parffit, Rossi, Lancaster, Bown. However, since 1980 Quo's hard sound changed to a lighter and more melodic one, which caused the beginning of a split in the band. It's a pity that this happened, because the original line-up was the best. But now that we and they are old, it doesn't matter....

I saw Status Quo in the Cavern Liverpool late 60s pos early 70s. They had done Matchstick men a few months before. Their equipment was so inadequate even for a small place like the cavern, so it was all howl around and feed back. Later I stood watching Uriah Heep next to Mick and Francis in the Madi-gras in Liverpool, early 70s. They were the support to Uriah heep. It was all down hill after Status Quo had finished. One of the best bands of my youth. I am 20 again every time I hear them. Thank you QUO.

@@michaelkarlsson5966 Alan Strom Francis and Rick started taking a lot of drugs like cocaine and that affected their individual mentality. Alan said in a long interview, that Francis wanted to control the Band. Francis got Pip Williams to Produce RAOTWorld in 1977, without consulting the Band. Francis had secret ambitions to move the Band in a different direction musically. This became more prevalent in 1982 and 1983 by which time Alan was only just hanging on. In Alan's long interview he said it would have cost him too much in legal fees to fight for his rights. All through the Band's existence there were songs that Alan had written, yet the Record Company and Francis decided that Alan wouldn't sing. This came to a head on the Back to Back album. Plus, as any real QUO supporter knows, Francis loves Country music, and that's OK, as long as he did it under his own name. Both Francis and myself have a passion for 'Already Gone ' by The Eagles, however that is a Country Rock song and to me it's a very cool tune. However, ' Marguerita Time' is a disgusting and revolting tune which Francis insisted on recording and releasing under the banner of Status Quo. Alan said that it was too embarrassing for him to be associated with and he left the Band that he formed in 1962. There were other serious issues that affected Alan which were weighing heavily upon him. There were royalty issues and poor management problems which were either out of his control or too expensive to fight. 'Marguerita Time' was the straw that broke Alan's back. Unfortunately, Alan lost the part of the court case whereby Rossi and Parfitt were allowed to keep the Band name. After all, it was Alan's Band. Selfishly on my behalf, I and my mates got to see Alan in his various Hard Rock Bands in Sydney, Australia. He was so cool, that he hung out with the crowd after the gigs. Lack of Record Company support is one reason. Plus, the USA had a plethora of blues n boogie based Rock bands, especially in the Southern states. Have a listen to Brownsville Station's " Smokin' In The Boys Room" Foghat, Lynyrd Skynryd, Grand Funk Railroad, The Allman Brothers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Grateful Dead, Canned Heat, Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top, Little Feat, Doobie Bros. just to name some bands that satisfied the American market. All these bands don't play boogie n blues as good as STATUS QUO, nobody does. Bonnie Raitt and all her blues Sisters are and were awesome. So who are these English guys coming over to the USA to tell us how to play " Not interested" go home to England.

I'm in my 70s, and have enjoyed Quo from day one. There was a snobbish "elite" of people who decried SQ as a 3 chord trick. Rubbish! Rossi oft played intricate parts. Quo, like the Stones, have endured the years and still pull in the crowds. Recall going to many a party in the past where the atmosphere flagged, someone would stick on a Quo album and the do came alive. As regards 3 chord trick, every musician known to man has used this device. Including Bach, Beethoven et al, it is the formula that underlies music.

Oi, like ME262, Paul Murray and Rocket Boy i was a young bloke when i nicked SQ On The Level from my brothers bedroom and played it as loud as i could. I`m 58 now and listen to the original line up and love it. I became a punker and i still am but like anybody the music from when you were young comes back one day. Qou is one of `m. They made lotsa crappy music when they were a pop band, `orrible. The Frantic Four were great

Funny there's almost only songs from the 1st 20 years of the band, wonder why. I mean, where is "Aint Complaining" and "Dear John"? I would have been quite happy with the frantic four and the reunion tour.
