3.5 to 3.625 inch sets are my favorite size for chess sets. Nice to travel with and yet big enough to play with in a tournament.

Thanks for the comment! There is also a difference in the weight and in the recommended board size, usually taller pieces demand bigger boards.

The problem with most Staunton 'style' sets is, apart from the Knights, the pieces are very similar to each other.

Really not my cup of tea. Knights are crude, in my opinion, and the head are far too wide.
