Sergei Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2 // Andris Poga

The Symphony No. 2 in E minor (1906/07) was composed in Dresden, with Sergei Rachmaninoff encouraged by the success of his Piano Concerto in C minor. The premiere was performed at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg on 26 January 1908, with the composer conducting.

I stopped after the intro climax at 430. Lacks power and weight. What is the conductor waiting for? DO IT! It's very good and all, but I can't watch it when the musicians play the camera instead of the music. Smiley smiley stuff as per the video director is not art, it's crap. Back to Rozhdestventsky for me.
