Enjoyed the banter back and forth. Wish a truck manufacturer in the USA would bring you over for a review\comparison with some of the USA specific trucks. I think that would really be interesting.

I quite like the exterior look of the MAN, only the mirrors could be better (like they were in a tga). And the interior could use some updating too. Great video again Stavros!

I have hill hold switched off on my actross tipper. When the load tips and you let go of the footbrake it means that the truck will roll away from the load and it clears the body better!

What do you think of that old Movie from 1956 called Hell Drivers in England they were Driving like Madmen trying to see who could hall the most loads of Ballast per day company owner expected drivers to haul 12 loads a day which was almost impossible but they were all trying to beat an renegade driver named Red who hauled 18 per day because he was just a deranged Mad Man taking bad risks & wreckless tatics

Manual gearbox in tipper is very good option, because in automated one u do not have that much controll over your clutch, and you can easly spin tires in mud, and that could cause a bad day

You just about managed to get it into top gear but failed to get it into bottom. You needed a hillier route ! Haven't a clue what you two were blethering on about in the cab - I was too busy keeping an eye on the rev counter and gear selection. Interesting that the green portion of the rev counter adjusts to the driving style.

Starvros 969 . The lights on the back of the truck have to be type approval . There is set high and set distances from the back of the truck . Same with crash bars and side crash bars . All truck bodybuilders have to keep with in set rules . A truck has to pass a test before it can get cert before it is registered . Ie truck body manufacturer has to be registered with the rsa . With guard on lights its not accepted on the back of a truck . They say it limits the vision of the lights . No guards on back lights on new trucks is a no no . Truck has to had a registered back crash bar for test . If you ask truck dealers they will fill you in plus a ball paperwork too .

Interior controls: I would think that operators would appreciate instead having the two ranges of Drive and Reverse matched up on the same side of the switch dial. At very least Dm and Rm should be the ones closest together. Those are the ones that would be most often switched back and forth between.

I thought hud reduction axles on tippers were for ground clearance, rather than gearing on tippers? Buses uses them similarly for rear engine packaging reasons. Sorry for being picky.
@mickb62855 жыл бұрын
You are correct Checker, with hub reduction axles the crown gear in the diff is smaller so the diff casing itself is further off the ground. The difference in the gearing is compensated for by the hub gears. Also means the half shafts are under less stress.

Can you lift any axles on this truck? We can gross 35 ton with four axles and 42 with five axles. With trailer the combined gross weight can be 76 tons and on some routes with hct permit over hundred tons. Greetings from Finland.

@DjTNTMacedonia5 жыл бұрын
I drive the same MAN 35.420 and a Volvo FM 420 (2007) in a mine here back home .... Yes its OKAY but for ROAD works or a Sand Quarry , but not for Deep mine excavation , if you don't lock the diff you are not going anywhere off road ... which I don't really like , I would never choose MAN to a VOLVO for Mine works , the Volvo is simply unmatched , plus the cabin suspension is so bad in a MAN , so yeah its good for Sand or Asphalt works , not for a Mine

Typical BMW driver using the bus lane at 13:56 to get a couple of cars ahead and save 5 seconds. And there he was again, in the queue at 16:39. How much did he gain ? Straight through the red traffic light at 16:59 too. Not really a surprise though.
