Saturday night. I just ate a delicious pizza made by myself. Now a good espresso. A click on youtube and one of my favorite woodworkers is building a gorgeous stool with a clever design. Those little "simple" things of a day that makes me feel just happy. PS: Thank you for granting my wish to see you build something for the shop. I appreciate your design abilities. Very good source of inspiration for me.

Very nice stool and I very much like the concept of "ancient" building with basic tools and the assemply without steel screws. One advice though from my experience of cutting wooden threads: use a lot of linsead oil diluted with terpentine to soak the wood when you drill the thread into the "female" part of the wooden screw. The drillbit will cut much easier and smooth into the wood, just like you did for the "male" part of the screw.

That spalting is gorgeous! Also, fantastic job.
@musamor752 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not "spalting" because it's not a manmade processs. IT's called SPALTED Beech, a natural rot in the wood, that in certain cases can cause structural weakness. But it's prized for it's beauty. There was a fantastic old furniture designer called Ernst Krenek- he was world renowned for his teachings and wonderful work. He loved the spalted effect, and was one of the first to uses it. Well worth looking up. However, Stavros is an amazing chap- his creativity is simply endless. I love watching him, and I'm a cabinet maker myself (64). Enjoy. Greetings from France.
