@@StavrosGakos if I'm making a long cut with an angle grinder, I usually use a guide piece of scrap. I find them better than hacksaws, which tend to drift.

I loved every second of this video! I have watched hundreds of videos on tool restorations and tool building, so I have NO idea why it took me this long to find your channel. Your craftsmanship is top notch. Your editing is perfect! You don't show any more than you need to of each step of the process. Trust me when I say that your doing it right when, "I don't skip portions of your 20+ minute video," and that also says A LOT about your content in general. There's something extra satisfying about all the hand work you put into your beautiful creations. I have a Stanley no.40 and yours is gorgeous! I think your work is excellent Stavros but may I give you a piece of engineering advice . It is NOT a criticism . When using a step drill bit to drill through steel more than 1/8 inch thick . It is best to drill from both sides . The it will last MUCH longer . All the best . Keep up the great work.

With all respect to the amazing results. It isn` t an infill plane. It is a dovetailed stanley type metal bodied scrub plane. As far as I know the term infill refers to the wooden infill, filling bodies of Norris, Spiers etc. planes with metal soles - wooden infills. But spelling is probably the least important thing in the game... Cheers.

You have right, infill planes should be "filled" with wood, but due to the way it is built, this project comes closest to the name of infill plane than to other name. Best regards!

The "round" or cambered edge enables the user to take off heavier passes...the whole purpose of the scrub plane is to take heavy shavings to prepare raw stock in the dimensions required for the project...this little plane will do just that!

I really haven't understood why the plane handle is created with the grain running parallel to the pushing force. It seems to me that the grain should be perpendicular to the force vector.
