Special Ed is from Brooklyn, NY. This song came out in 1988 when he was only 16. The scenes in the video were in front of his high school. His first album was called "The Youngest In Charge," which came out in 1989 when he was 17.

Special Ed had a good hold on hip hop for a few in the 90's. It's a shame that he didn't keep going but the OG's like Nas and them know and talk about him often.

It was a lot different back in the day. When a song came out, if it was hot, it would stay on the charts for months, and they would perform that hot song everywhere, even appear on Soul Train. Once the song starts to die down, then they will release an album if they have enough songs ready. You won't hear a lot of curses on a song because you wanted your song to be played in regular rotation on the radio.

What most people don't realize is that Special Ed at age 16 years old here was being 'sarcastic' in this song...and they used satire for the music video. He was making fun of himself...lol. For instance the song he's rapping about how much he "got it made' (as in being a success), however, he's in a junkyard surrounded by junk. That was one of the main points of the video. It was self-depreciating humor. His high level of sarcasm at the young age of 16, went over the heads of most people...lol

Its funny when young people watch these videos and ask where are they from because today hip hop is worldwide. So their questions arent strange. But back the dam near 90% of the rappers came from new york or the east coast. And you could tell by the style. If the lyrics were crisp and clear,,,new york. LOL
