Stay Awake! Homily for the 1st Sunday of Advent, Year C.

The Advent liturgy invites us to look in two directions. We look back two thousand years to the birth of our Lord and Saviour. But we look forward to a time that we do not know, to the coming in glory of our Lord and Saviour. But there’s another important Advent lesson that we must learn. Let us not be so obsessed with looking back to the past or forwards to the future that we ignore the present moment. So, keep watch and stay awake for the Lord’s coming today.
