Looking for your opinions... I have a lot of Singer 99's and 66's. This particular one came to me a while back missing a light, motor, and a couple of other external parts, plus her Bentwood case had a blown out bottom - she was a hot mess. I gave her a good cleaning, put some new plywood in the bottom of her case, and made her run nicely again. My problem is I can't decide if I should keep her or get her into a new home. What would you do? Let me know down below.

I just had my gifted machine 1922 hand crank, serviced and fixed ... Oh my goodness.... it sews like a dream and silently at a slow pace .... hopefully will last another 100 years .... I really appreciate the work that goes into fixing, maintaining these machines, from your videos.

I can only operate one machine at a time and it's why I only "almost" have one machine of each model. I enjoy finding the person who will use the machine and appreciate it as much as I do.

Keep it for a bit so you can be reminded of the wonderful work you do. Then sell it. Then have another machine you save replace it, etc.

If you are going to use it, keep it! If not, let it go and someone else will enjoy it’s beautiful stitches and it will get to do what it was made to do! (I will not bring up the issue of space or how many machines you already have, you need to think about adding an addition to your house Bob. 🤣)

Hi Bob Fowler! I have to tell you we have adopted the “schmoo” word and use it for many things, mostly the melty ice cream at the bottom of the dish! So, thank you for that.😁😁😁 As for your sweet little 99, maybe you could keep it till you feel right about letting her go. Someday you’re going to meet somebody and just KNOW that is the right person.

It sews and sounds beautiful. If you have one that is all restored and original I would pass it on to someone that would like to have a "first" machine. I love my 192K that I am restoring and I do not think I could pass her on. It would take coming across a better one (better finish) before I would let this one go. Tough decision to make. Good luck!

You've done a great job restoring her. She's beautiful! I'd keep her until I had one with all OEM parts, then sell her to someone who would appreciate your work. 😊

Dang Bob, that's a fine running machine sir, hard call if you have alternates, but if you don't have one of those that nice, easy call! Cheers! (I 2nd that "hard day at work", damn hot today down my way😁)

I cant say , because i have a collecting problem lol 14 machines in my collection , but i bounce them around and run stitches threw them all at least once a month , dont like to let my machines just sit , considering i havent totally rebuild all of them so some still have a good cleeaning overdue ...my 28 from 1895 did the same thing , impressed me so much i had to keep her ....

From the brief time watching this video, it really gives the impression that this is a beautiful machine. Though I cannot advise you on your question, whether to keep this machine or not. I would probably keep the machine for a period, then maybe you will find out through usage or not, what the decision ought to be. Also I'd make sure if the decision to let the machine go is reached that this beauty will find a good loving home. Oops, now you got some advice from me after all.

Let me answer your question with one of my own. What do you want for her? She would look really nice next to the 201-2 that you taught me how to rebuild on your channel.

What do you need it for? You have the best domestic sewing machine ever made, 201-2, so unless you plan to schlep it with you on vacation, I would sell it. They do have great piercing power, but the topstitch quality is not as good as the 201-2. I own both, so this comes from personal experience.

It's pretty much the perfect first sewing machine! I often wish there were some kind of matchmaking service, connecting me with beginning sewers in need of a good machine.

You're my inspiration. I had my daughter pick up a $25 machine advertised as "Featherweight without a box". There was only one scary picture. Turned out to be a trashed 99. I plan to make it to make it my first complete teardown. I can only hope to achieve results like yours. KZbin here I come again! And- if you do decide to sell it please start a list and put my name at the top. Or a lottery. I would just love to have this machine and would use it everyday. I'm sure others would too. If you can part with it...

It's impossible, isn't it? Either way is still a good decision but if you keep her for now that gives you a chance to wait until you find the "perfect someone" to give/sell her to. That's about as perfect as it gets and always an easy decision when you find that perfect person.

She needs a loving home however before she goes can you take the front cover and bobbin plate off and show all at once what the action is for the needle and hook and the other bits and pieces? I need to see something!
