I used to break into abandoned buildings as a teen. Old military complexes on a base we lived near. Still remember seeing the entrance to underground tunnels flooded with water. Still glad I never decided to explore lol might have been turned into an urban legend.

Interesting concept; maybe the monster was part of Terry's subconscious, maybe his desire to make friends willed it into being and using part of Terry. Which means the monster is Terry in some kind of weird horrible way.

Decent story and good reader, but the pacing is slow. Id keep it fairly brisk through most of the description and use slower pace and pauses to build suspense at key moments.

As a Brit, I found it difficult not to grind my teeth at the Americanisms describing the school system. Instead of "8th Grade," it should be "Year 8," and instead of grade school, middle school and high school, our equivalent would be primary school, secondary school and college/sixth form. Good story other than that, though.
