The wall you touch isn’t cold but the bit behind that will be and if you haven’t got a vapour control layer or reduced the humidity then the damp you used to get will be condensing there where you can’t see it. Hopefully not but vapour does travel through some insulation.

You really have to handle this stuff with great care to stop it cracking, especially at the last part of the roll, it cracks easily and does actually show. I ended up not using the last 12inches or so, a bit of a waste really. The walls are much more insulated and you can tell the difference, however...the slightest knock, or if you lean anything up against the insulation you get an indentation on it's surface and it easily punctures/tears. If you don't have kids running around! It will be fine.
@ProfessionalPainterDecoratorАй бұрын
Did you use Fibre lining over the top for extra protection?

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Yes, I did everything by the book, but you can't stop the indentations to the surface if it get knocked.

Morning Phil, glad I discovered this vlog, I never knew this stuff existed, I will definitely be getting a roll to do our little porch from our living room to the front door, is it possible to get a smaller tub of the adhesive as I wouldn't need anything as big as the tub you needed or is there an alternative glue I can use?. Are you doing another vlog finishing off that room with wallpaper?. Keep up the great vlogs Many thanks Steve H

Hi Phil, Im going to use Red label insulating lining paper 10m single ! When i put lining paper on top of insulating paper can i get away with using Wallpaper paste..
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator19 күн бұрын
That's the normal one without he 'paper' surface that the Graphite+ has? You really need to use the correct WallRock adhesive to hang it... as it will stick best to the polystyrene, like wise.. going over the polystyrene you would use the same adhesive.. as you need it to stick to the sy=surface again. REMEMBER.. you'll need to wait 48hrs before you line over the top. Always read the instruction ;)

How much heat retention does this stuff actually provide. I guess the only way of testing it would be to monitor the drop in temperature in degrees over say a 5 hour time frame prior to papering the room then doing the same after the room has had the insulation added. Anyone tested it?

What’s the difference between this product and the wallrock thermal kv600? Is the quality similar as the price difference is quite big as they are both 4mm?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator7 ай бұрын
About £100 a roll difference... But you do get more on a roll. If you read the spec you'd think very similar in what they do. The kv600 seems to be aimed more at keeping warms in. Than keeping the cold out. If that can make sense. www.erfurtmav.com/erfurt-mav-wallpaper-products/wallrock/wallrock-thermal-liner-kv600

Please help. I’ve just bought a house and have been stripping the wallpaper in preparation for painting. Under the wallpaper on some of the walls is this stuff, or something a lot like it. Some of it has the paper surface, some of it is just the bare dark grey polystyrene. I’d like to keep it on, but how do I paint over it? Lining paper then paint? Will the lining paper stick to the bare polystyrene? The wallpaper had come loose in places and came away from it very easily in one piece, so I’m a bit concerned my lining paper will do the same. Are there other options? I’ve only ever done basic painting before, so I’m a bit out of my depth. Thanks.
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator23 күн бұрын
hi. If you need to replace what you've removed... this is the video for you to watch a few times then do it yourself. The Graphite Plus is a really good product. You can then line over it. With our older style product, you can line over it, but you TUB paste ready mixed, Like Albany Yellow lid paste, from brewers, it will serve you well for 98% of any wallpapering you'll do.

Hi Phil, so I’ve now bought this thermaline graphite + and will be putting it up, you mention it doesn’t but up easy so on the verticals am I to fill these areas and caulk the edges? Also looking to cross line with 100mm fibre line after but concerned that you may see the verticals line from the thermaline - any ideas mate? Also and I should know this but where I put 1400 grade lining which has been removed would you say I need to Garda it for porosity purposes as the wall appears very porous and concerned it may draw in the paste causing it to fail when the thermaline is put up?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator3 ай бұрын
you can use the gardz to prime over the walls.. remember you'll be applying the paste to the wall anyway, so apply enough on... you're using the correct matching adhesive which is very good... when you fill the joints.. use a light weight tub filler like i use, it does fill the joints well.. caulk the corners like it did too. word of warning... don't use a blade to cut through the fibre lining, as you will cut into the insultating lining, which you don't want to do incase it comes away from the wall. mark with a pencil and cut neat with shears... if you cut too much and leaves a bigger gap.. fine skim them out before painting. ring me if you get stuck

Hi Phil, My front wall under the bay window gets too cold in winter and mould aslo builts up. From your experience is this insulating lining paper graphite+ is good. Does it stop cold and mould? Can i paste it on the wall having standard matt emulsion paint and after pasting the lining paper can i paint matt emulsion paint to match the same colour as rest of the room or do i need to paste another lining paper ?

Follow my instructions for hanging it.. l AVE 48hrs before you hang the reinforced lining over it. If you suffer from mould... Look at using Zinsser PermaWhite or Glixtone paint,that will help for the mould.

No you clean you wall first use dryzone mould killer.. then wait 24 hours and then pva the wall and let dry before fitting the wall Rock using adhesive. Zinsser is to be applied on top of the wall rock paper not under it.

THERE NO GETTING AWAY FROM IT. THIS DOES NOT CUT WITH NEAT SHARP EDGES. Tip for you based on your quote above. It does cut neat with sharp edges and can be trimmed to perfection if you hang it as a fragile 4mm thick polystyrene, non absorbent laminate and not try to hang it as a 0.35mm thick standard absorbent wallcovering that's 12 times thinner. A fragile 4mm polystyrene covering requires an entirely different hanging trimming and pasting method to one that is employed to hang standard thickness absorbent wallcoverings.
