To find out more about our Warrior Member's Live Stream: courses.kungfu.life/courses/2020-live-stream-training-sessions Happy Thursday everyone 😀☀Today, we would like to share a small clip from our Warrior Member's Live Stream training where we trained the classic Ma Bu ( Horse Stance) at the end of the session, during this 30 seconds training of Ma Bu (Shifu Yan Xin's Kung Fu seconds) , not only we trained our kung fu foundations and skills, most importantly we worked to cultivate ourselves in to a stronger and better version of ourselves. After watching your video I did this 5 times in the last 9 days progressing from 1 minute to 2 minutes at 73.5 years of age. Goal is 15 seconds more each time. This is a good challenge! Thank you for your enthusiastic teaching. 😄

@laualazcano6661 Thanks. I'm 77 now and can still hold for 2 minutes. I don't practice this move. I do 4 sets of leg presses at the gym twice per week going slow on the eccentric part with a 1-second hold at the bottom. Immediately afterward, I do 20 bodyweight squats the same way, except I don't go all the way up.

This reminds me of testing for my Black belt in jujitsu, we were required to hold this stance for 30+ minutes, while performing strikes, it was to test your willpower, the strikes were a distraction to begin but soon the legs got so painful it just resulted in digging deep and being mentally strong. It was brutal

That’s what a real black belt martial artists should be able to do. It seems nowadays you can just get a black belt once you learn a few techniques and just train there long enough.

I used to train shotokan and we called horse kiba dachi. Now I am training hung gar and doing ma bu haha!! The deeper I go the better I feel. I love it! Recovering from injuries in both knees and brought martial arts back into my life. I needed more fluidity than karate and began delving into Chinese internal styles building and moving my qi. And using dit da jow. And now I have your videos to add a whole other level of joy to my training as a life warrior!! :-) thank you sifu, and thank you shaolin, NAMO AMITUOFO! :-)

Our Sifu would lay a staff across our legs and if you made it fall, start over until the either lasting the determined time without it falling or trying until exhaustion then there was the rest of class🥵 LOL, but the end of a session would be the stretching, tincture and breathing which was great relief! What a journey these last decades but always learning and so excited to see new enthusiasm in all of the skill sets because they bring health, strengthen the mind, body and spirit, great video 👍👍!

Decades ago, when I did serious Kung Fu practice, we started with this "Thighs parallel" horse stance for a minute, and worked our way up to 15 minutes. This was in addition to other stance practice and everything else. This stance, we did at the end of class, when we are already worn out. I remember not being able to walk up the stairs (our of our studio) right away. But boy, did we develop power in our strikes and kicks.

I am sure correct form is excellent, but before watched this video, I tried this about four times over a few hours and managed to get up to three minutes by just squatting. But the results were astonishing: Exercises that I had to quit because of the pain, I was able to continue until I ran out of steam! So don’t let proper form stop you, as long as you feel like you’re gonna die, you’re doing it right 😁

ॐ Namaskar On my first very 1st attempt of 'Horse Stance' i did about 60 seconds or a minute...barely!! I am surprised and a bit embarrassed... I am shaken-up and tired!! I had thought I could do it much longer without any stress... I am fit. I practice Yoga... cycle etc. and live a very active/hard life...

My exam is next week! On Wednesday, December 20th 🟠I need to remain at least 50 s in Ma Bu / Horse Stance Kati: ⚪Fu Xin Chuang ⚪Wu Bu Chuang 🟡To I Chuang and, finally 🟡Lian Huan Quan 🔴Applications 🟣 Sparring (?) My knees are hurting a little bit! I must correct the posture and I guess, proper shoes when training on my own or at the gymn!
