If that's the level of talent he had before spending 8 hours a day practicing, it shows just how much innate ability he had. THIS is why he caught Dennis Chambers' attention and admiration. All of the best musicians know that you become great by learning & playing as many different styles as possible. A drummer in a metal band who only listens to metal and only plays metal can't bring anything new to the sound, and it's the same for any style of music. Open your mind and your ears.

Even though he is honestly one of the best drummers i have ever seen, he wont go down as one of the greatest. And its not because of him lacking skill but he doesnt have the reach of professional drumming greats like Bonzo, Buddy Rich, The Professor, Jimmy Chamberlain,etc. And its a shame because you have bums like Lars who will be remembered because he is well known internationally yet his playing is average at best

Hell, plenty of other “YT shorts drummers” couldn’t even play the riff cleanly without the fancy stuff. The basic structure isn’t that complicated and even I could probably play it sloppily, but all the flare is what makes it crazy.
