This Podcast episode hit home. Most people talk about breaking in or starting out but advice for people that have been in illustration for many years is rare. Thanks for doing what you do!

So I just want to say thank you...to all three of you. Since I've started SVSLearn and listening to this podcast, I've started to build confidence in myself and art and you've influenced me in other ways. You guys have such pleasant and positive personalities.

I like that you mentioned Netflix Arcane and Into the Spiderverse. I'll say it again Lee reminds me of Kramer from Seinfeld. Jake is Jerry and Will is George. Great advice guys.

Thanks so much for answering my question! Sorry for the confusing part at the end; I think it had to do with my lack of patience while typing into my phone. What I meant was, how do you portray a quiet moment that doesn't have a super obvious context (such as a family gathered around a sick person in a hospital room)? I think Lee nailed it when he said that the problem is subtlety. And I like what all of you said about clues in the scene, symbolism, or gesture. (And yes, I did stop and act out the pose!) My question arose out of some Critique Arena thumbnails that I've done in which I wanted to portray a quiet moment, but they always got eliminated in favor of more action-oriented ones because the idea wasn't clear enough. You guys have got to quit saying that 40 is old, though! I wish I had 300 years to do illustration. I think I'm going to go put my consciousness into a new, young super-body.

ha! 40 years old is YOUNG! it's younger than the 3 of us, that is for sure! lol! Our take on that though is typically how it applies to new illustrators, many who are straight out of college and lack experience (both artistic and life experience).

I’m older than any of you and just starting out-it’s a mom thing. It just makes me feel a bit kooky when I hear you guys say that 40 is late to start🤔. Still doing it, though!

Guys I love the podcast! Jake-I'd like to recommend diffusing the light source in your office. The right side of your face is always blasted out in white light. BTW I don't miss an episode.

every background was painted in arcane, and they didn't have a lighting department. No motion capture, just 6 years of using references

Another BANGER! Thank you guys so much for thie episode. It was so fun listening to you while I attempted to draw while doing my morning cardio (riding my stationary bike) It didnt work so well so I'll be working out how I can make a drawing table that slides over my bike handle bars. Any way, THANK YOU for your amazing content! You guys are so good. Are you ever going to do a live paid audience show? Id love to come out to watch you guys live with a Q&A. Just a thought. Thanks again.

Another great podcast! For comic / graphic novel artists who want to test out their ideas. There are webtoons to upload to. Do you have any recommendations for children's book illustrators who want to upload their authored and illustrated stories? Can we do it on the SVS forum? Or is the SCBWI a more appropriate place for getting feedback on the storytelling as well as the illustrations?

Texas has 172 million acres. Earth population 7.7 billion. so 4 per acre would not fit in Texas (about 45 people per acre in texas alone to fit the world population). Expanding out to the US we get 2.43 billion acres so now four people per acre would fit and leave space open. (you could get up to 9.72 billion people and still fit in 4 people per acre in the US.)

I looked up League of Legends but it looks like a computer game. But then I found this title on KZbin: LEAGUE OF LEGENDS - The Complete Cinematic Story Movie (2020) 4K ULTRA HD. Does anyone know if this is what they mean? The animation for the upcoming Puss In Boots film looks good. I'm a big fan of Nathan Fowkes, who did the artwork for the original PiB, and the animation on this new one looks more like that painterly style.

They're talking about Arcane, an animated series based on the game League of Legends. I believe it's on Netflix :) I think he cinematic story thing is just someone cutting together cutscenes from the game.
