We decided to stay indoors today and avoid the wind while catching up on some stories and viewer questions. I also wanted to showcase Pat's videography debut and incorporated some footage he shot near Walker Pass at the eastern edge of our little valley and footage from a recent trip to the Tecopa Valley on the edge of Death Valley in eastern California. I hope you enjoy it! For more information, head over to our website, www.thedisciplinedride.com . Please take a moment to hit the Like button, Subscribe to our channel, and Share with your friends. Thank you for watching!

Love the training and the Storytelling! I’m 65 😮 and have been a horse girl my entire life. My dad did a few riding tricks and was a horse/animal trainer in his own right. I have my great grandpas shoeing anvil, which I cherish. Pat and Deb are keeping it real and vaquero history alive! I appreciate the informative you tube videos! My husband loves you guys too!❤

60 years ago when I was a teen, I found 6 large full trash bags in the creek by our farm under the bridge. I went through the trash, found letters with their address and returned them 30 miles and dumped them in their yard. It didn’t happen again.

Pat ,I love your old hands ! I wish Deb could take a picture of your hands on a saddle horn with a nice pair of rawhide reins between your fingers. It would make a great picture for a video about reinsmanship .

Beautiful country! My first horse was barn sour. I rode him away from the barn & back to the barn reeatedly until he realized we would not be going back to the barn until I said it was time.

Pat & Deb: I recently read a book that you might find enjoyable. "Beyond the Far Ridge" by Mark McCough. It's a collection of short stories from a retired ranch hand and his wife and their time living in the Rockies in an outfitter tent and later the cabin they built. And their adventures living in the mountains. 😊😊😊

Pat prefers a smaller, thriftier cow for our country. She will require less feed and will wean a calf that's half her weight.

@@HandymanKurt Thanks! I thought they might be dates but wasn't sure. I figured the mesh was to protect from birds, rather than insects. Do you know which insects? I'm always curious about these things.

I really appreciate the sign on your trailer: Yes America has always been great! I know I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Also appreciate your tribute to the officers who lost their lives on January 6. They deserve to be remembered. Your point about collection going down hill is well taken, and Deb's tips on rider position when doing so. I'm assuming that if you suddenly found yourself riding a horse that hasn't had the background to collect itself and then there's the hill, at least you can be aware of how your riding affects your horse's balance. Granted one should always be aware of that, even on flat ground. One question though, if you have been riding in a snaffle and have no plans to move up to a western bit, wouldn't working on collection in a snaffle be good enough for trail riding? Or would it be smart to consider switching to a western bit specifically for riding in hilly country? These videos are terrific. Always have been.
@PatnDebPuckett
@PatnDebPuckett 4 ай бұрын
Yes it would be wise to transition to a western bit for the reasons you mentioned. Also riding in a bit that is designed to be ridden with one hand forces you to ride better and to ride with less hand and more seat and leg. Finally a leverage bit is safer in unexpected situations. You’ll always be able to stop your horse.
