Martial Blade Concepts founder and chief instructor Michael Janich explains why Martial Blade Concepts is not just a knife based self-defense system. Janich also addresses the concept and purpose of gradually increasing intensity in training to allow a student to acquire and develop skills without injury.

Thanks, Mr Janich. I'm a Criminal Justice Professor in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and I was discussing with my students several Theorical Aspects of Victimology. Many criminological studies in the subjects have found that the "ideal victim" is the one that does not care about their safety and have no worries about self awareness. Your videos are great because you teach what can be considered drills, not just techniques. I have recommended some students to follow you.

I have been watching this and following MBC for a while. I do Tai Chi and this has helped me understand Tai Chi movements to a much deeper level. I keep coming back to this video. I definitely want to become part of MBC officially.

I absolutely LOVE what you are doing Mr. Janich. I love the idea of teaching traditional structure alongside practical application.

This is why you need to find a skilled instructor like Mr. Janich or comprable for leathal force training. There's a right way to learn something and the wroung way. Wrong way gets you hurt or dead. As a kali player I'm glad these videos are out there, and are understandable. Thank you.

Excellent. Always off their centerline whenever possible. Always better to redirect than try and stop.

I have a problem with the glorified game of “Pattie Cake” if Preemption is the only constant (and it is!) hubud is nothing more than a waste of time and a marketing tactic. You can take a guy who has been practicing this nonsense for years and pit him against a determined attacker and turn up the intensity and this arm chair theoretical shit falls apart at the seams. The only mode of practice worth your while is “War Gaming” both guys going all out to gain a dominant position over the other. A practice where the winner is obvious to both parties.

Maybe that's why he carries a knife &/or a gun around, moron. Weapons are at the core of his system, and are what he talks about 90%+ of the time.
