As a Brit living in Texas, the tipping culture is getting out of control. There are even self checkouts at grocery stores suggesting a tip amount while you bag your own groceries 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hey guys I’m from NY and wanted to have my say on the tipping culture. If u are getting fast food I do not tip, but if I sit down and have them wait on me I normally leave a 15-20% tip depending on how they did. Hope this helped

I agree with the tipping, should tip all otherwise: I have a similar issue with melons that applaud when the plane lands! Is it a Swedish thing or is it similar for others? You don’t applaud a taxi, bus or train driver when get to your destination, so why applaud? Surrounded by bells that do so!

It's better not to have coffee first thing in the morning because your body is still in "sleep mode" and needs time to wake up fully. Coffee doesn't get you out of sleep mode. It just suppresses it, which is why people tend to crash and feel tired in the afternoon because those sleep chemicals come roaring back. You're better off just having water in the morning when you get up. Let your body get out of sleep mode naturally, go through your routine, get the kids to school etc and then have a coffee when you're fully awake, ideally an hour to 90 minutes after work. Then you'll get the caffeine energy injection and have less of a chance of having a midday crash. You'll feel better throughout the day and in the evening you won't be as tired and you'll be able to watch Roadhouse.

I have worked in hospitality in Europe and in the US, its a complete different system. In Europe I will earn 2K paid by the owner of the restaurant and thats it. In the US, you are being paid hourly between 11 and 16 USD for the most part, which brings you not very far, so the tip is an obvious addition because if it wasnt for it, there would be nobody working in this industry. Should Americans owners pay their staff more so we dont have to tip? Absolutely. But it is a cultural thingy... Hard to remove, and hard to understand for foreigners.

There has been so many cultural customs in America that have been removed over the years. Its annoying that something as backwards as tip guilt is still one of them. I thought I would escape the pressure and stigma of tipping at a buffet during a Las Vegas stag do trip I went to several years ago... I was wrong 😂. Speaking from a US context, countering the logic of tipping waiters (who in some states are paid as low as 7.50 an hour with no benefits) by saying why not also tip a nurse or a firefighter (i.e. people who make annually at least 80k and have full benefits, including healthcare) is ridiculous. US service sector workers are the victims of shitty labor laws and laissez fair market attitudes, but the least thing middle class shmucks can do is add another 15% to their bill to make these workers' life a bit easier. Afterall, it's these middle class folks who are the most resistant to any pro-labor measures to supress labor and commodity costs.
