They have shown this type of chemistry since season 1 and continue to show it. Regardless of what the writers write MacRiley will always be the true end game. This is exactly what a good relationship should consist of, trust and support. I’m sure Desi and Mac’s relationship was similar in some way, but this is a perfect example of going through shared trauma and building a foundation before realizing how much you care about each other. If you really a Macgyver fan and watch all the episode of the series, you'll see how they steal glance of each other, how they look at each other, how they perfectly complete each other during task and during personal moments, the amount of trust and understanding they got for each other and their little jealousy over time and time for each other. The writer really slow burn us and keep giving them some random couple each season. And MacRiley, I got no idea on how in the world they suddenly become a couple. No process, no stories, no tension, lack of moments then suddenly BAM, they're a couple.
