Amazes me to hear Billy say Leeds United getting to semi final didn’t feel as good as when he got there as a player. Incredible to think Leeds have only ever won the cup once. So many times we failed to show up in semi and cup finals.

You hear a lot of romantic comments now about the FA Cup back in those days, but it always important from a revenue and prestige point of view to be in the top division. I totally get where BB was coming from, especially as Leeds had been in Division 2 for 4-5 years by then.

@@converse91970 FA Cup was so important back then but as a young Leeds fan, I’d never seen Leeds in top division. Both defeats were absolutely devastating. The difference between success and failure can be absolute fractions.
