Kevin Keegan. He got some abuse from Leeds fans, including being felled by a missile thrown from the Kop at Elland Road when playing for Newcastle in 1982. But I have so much respect for him. He is a really great person, a good human neing and a great footballing man. His respect for Don Revie, and Bill Shankly, is very touching.

Yes even though Kevin Keegan had reason to hate leeds & Johnny Giles for hitting him and himself and Billy Bremner getting sent off in the charity shield. He allways said great things about that Leeds team and the manager Mr. "DON" "RAVIE". Plus that leeds team most of them came throught the ranks at leeds utd expect Allan Clarke, Johnny Giles and Trevor Cherry what would they be worth today. Allso Vinnie jones would'nt have lasted 5mins against that "LEEDS" team. Jackie Charlton would have had him in his little black book and Norman Hunter would be biting his legs. Allso it was all Northern Ireland players, Rep of Ireland players, Welsh players and Scottish players in most of the teams them days. Great players great teams and great Managers around them days.Missed😪 😪

You'll often hear negative comments from fans of other clubs about that Leeds side, many of who never actually saw them play. But then you hear the comments of other managers and professionals who played against them and in nearly every case they will sing their praises. Whose opinion will I listen to? the old pros and managers every single time. Many of the opinions from fans will be based on snippets from a game or from journalists who were never good enough to play the game and were/are nothing more than glorified fans.

One of the best and competitive games I ever saw was a home defeat for my team Everton in a FA Cup 4th round reply in January 1965 at Goodison Park. After a 1-1 draw at Leeds on the day of Winston Churchill's funeral. I was confident about the replay. But to two sides packed with internationals played a fiercely fought game until late in the second half when Jack Charlton scored, followed quickly by a breakaway goal from Don Weston. Fred Pickering replied straight away. And with minutes left Alex Scott was flattened in the penalty area and Ref Kevin Howley refused to award a penalty. The gate was in excess of 66,000 that night and the clash between Bobby Collins and Dennis Stevens was two great midfield players. Everton won the FA Cup the next year. Though the late 1960s Leeds team were outstanding, and should have won more trophy's.

There was this never ending hatred of the great Leeds team ,dirty Leeds dirty Leeds. I think between 64 to 70 there was more than some truth to it . But 70 to 75 they played some great great football. Hard but gifted . Every team had hard men back then . Liverpools Tommy Smith was an animal .just ask Geoff Nulty. Chelsea had Ron Harris . Man Utd had Nobby Stiles ,they were like minders that allowed the great players to play. You get booked these days for tackling as all the foreign players roll around like gymnasts .

I don't think they were any nastier than any other team - Harris, Mackay, Smith, Storey, Lyons - they were all capable of kicking someone up in the air. The difference with Leeds was they had that AND immense skill and class w Giles, Gray, Madeley, Clarke and therefore, confidence (you call it arrogance) . They were hated (by opposing fans) because of jealousy. That said, The Kop gave them a standing ovation when they won the league there and Shankley was one of Revie's greatest fans.

Excellent compilation film though. The belief is that Leeds didn't win enough trophies which may be true but Leeds had a level of consistency for probably 60 or 70 games per season, before squad systems and rotation, competing on all fronts, they had a level of consistency unrivalled by any team before or since.
