STEAL THESE LICKS... Transform Your Playing

In this video, I wanted to give you a mix of licks that help you create some wild but memorable guitar parts to help you spice up your lead playing. These can also run alongside the slower more emotive aspect of playing you should also be working on too. Don't forget the importance of 'feel' and space in solos too. I was really inspired by Nuno Bettencourt's playing to create this particular lesson. Although there are no specific licks from his songs in this video, it was how he placed licks like the ones shown in this video into his classic solos like, Play With Me, RISE, # REBEL, Flight Of The Wounded Bumblebee and so many others. This video will help you work on tapping, string skipping, sweep picking, and alternate picking. Lots to work on so do me a favour and hit the subscribe button.

Thank you for another awesome video! I'm definitely gonna be practicing these licks. Would love to see how you dial in these tones on the Amped 3. I've got one and have been able to get pretty good tones from it, but it feels less intuitive to dial in for me coming from traditional amps.

Thank you! Once I got a sound I liked on the AMPED 3 I barely had to tweak anything. I just stick with one preset I made for all my videos. The Architect software you can get for it is a dream!!

I’ve been watching some of your vids just found yeah 2-weeks ago.. I purchased the EVH yesterday I’ve saved up for it for years my first Floyd Rose is it very hard to get the action lower to the fret board can you give me a few tips mine will be here Tuesday

It's easy to lower the action on a floyd. There are two posts on each side of the bridge. Tightening them lowers the bridge and therefore the strings.

Arpeggios and pentatonic noodling are boring as hell. They are just exercises or etudes that every music student practices to learn technique, not anything really melodic. These are only meant as learning tools, not as actual melodic. All i am hearing is scales and arps. That is step one of 20. Most guitarists never make it past this level. They just get faster at it. Do they learn modal expansion, enclosures? Nope, just how to wiggle thier fingers, not how to develop ideas.

You're merely stating the obvious, and clearly missed the point of this video. The whole point of these licks are to help create parts in solos the same way Nuno or any other great player might do for their solos. Listen to what I say in the video. I'm not saying this is the definitive approach to take, this video is simply sharing ideas to help people improve technique. By the way, your videos and playing are great. ;)
