Something fascinating about it in a weird way. You could be flying down the motorway as a kid and see a but of brush with a beaten path through it and a roundabout with brush and a hole, and my mind would just race with wonder.

Yes, it would have been a lot easier without the bike. I used to bike all over town, go shopping, ride through the wildlife preserve and lots of other places... until I found out how much easier it just to walk instead. Bikes are great... I have 3 bikes and a velomobies, but they can be a nuisance too. I use the velomobile when it's raining or snowing to keep the weather off of me. But for the most part, I just walk everywhere I want to go. I walk for miles and miles. And at my age (72) it's good for me.

That area used to be the cress beds, it’s very boggy. Over the road next to Wickes you can see that large water container where the ground water is pumped into. I park at that supermarket all the time and would never think to look in the bushes. I used to play there as a kid, but had completely forgotten about it until now.

Suggestion about using tarps Pull your anchors tighter or where you tie off at and lower it so you don't get wet and stay out of none flat spots 🤪 as you learned it makes pools of water the ground was obvious not prime for sleeping at or dig trenches Your learning I am 47 going on 48 and left my family when I was the tender age of 18 I also hop freight trains and very familiar with the pacific northwest California, Oregon, and Washington State WET and cold Cheers from sin city or "Las Vegas" Nevada USA

The first time I pushed my bike down the stream, I got really wet feet too. So I made a fire and tried to dry my shoes and socks by it. I did succeed in drying them but I roasted my socks a bit.

@@offcampingPath behind the range, other end is a railway bridge. We used to cross the field to get to the river there, just beyond that the ground raises up to a more wooded area beside the tracks. Best accessed from the road through the estate behind 😉

You should look up a boots brand on amazon called polar. Fleece lined, keeps the cold out and most water. I have 2 pairs of the womens ones and they are great for this time of year.
