I think this is true, anime vs manga makes a big difference imo. When I watched the anime I liked Hachi but thought she was just okay. When I read the manga I fell in love with her and she’s now my favourite character from the series without a doubt!

I haven't read the manga but I think some of the big reasons to hate her is because of the way other characters think of her as well as since it's from her point of view you have to see ALL of her flaws constantly instead of indirectly. I love her though I think her flaws are very real for someone who is meant to be immature and still growing

Truly the most iconic anime in aesthetics and also the realism as a 25 years old person I was so done with the cliche romcoms , and craved sth more grownup, the relationships in NANA are so versatile and real I could relate to multiple characters at the same time, and the fits have always intrigued me, seeing u rock them was so fun

What you said about Hachi is so true she is not perfect like no character is, I think we should love both Nanas as much as we tend to lean more towards Hachi because she looks like us and hence the hate, we end up dehumanizing Nana and believe me, a person who has read and seen Nana over and over again, the more you notice Nana's faults the closer she will seem to you, maybe even more than Hachi Amazing vídeo 🌹💕

came here to say this! always thought it was a tremendously underrated series. i became interested in anime/manga basically because of nana and ended up hanging out with a bunch of weebs in high school who are still my friends to this day! i was the only nana stan though and they liked other more popular series which i pretended to like lol but nana is the only one that still holds up for me. it always seemed so much more nuanced and mature than other series which felt kind of childish in comparison... i found the characters way more relatable and complex. i'm sure there are other manga with similar themes out there but i've never found one that i liked so much!! so glad nana is finally getting the respect it deserves
