Thanks for those positive comments re the condition of Crowcombe. Good to hear. I will add that the track within station limits is clear of weeds due to the efforts of the regular station work party who hand weed their patch. Back breaking work, but good to hear it’s appreciated. :-)

Double track lines operated with the manual electric block regime. Good evening, it is not yet entirely clear to me whether those old electric block systems (Absolute block system, if I am not mistaken) with a wooden case were or were not influenced by the passage of trains for the purpose of occupying and freeing the section (block) towards to which and from which the train was respectively headed or from which the train came. Furthermore, it is not clear whether there is an electrical connection between the lever that controls the opening of the starting signal and the apparatus with wooden case. In other words, was it possible to pull the lever that activated the starting signal towards you without first having received electrical consent from the next station? However, it is common ground that where there is a token block it is possible to activate the lever that opens the starting signal even before having handed over the token to the driver, unless there is an error on my part. I believe all coal mining in the UK has ceased now and all coal is imported. I haven't heard of any real supply difficulties.

I think you ought to give Val a new name: Little Miss Mischief. You didn't tell me she had the nature of a mischievous cat, lol. Nice to see Odney Manor running. There was once a lady Who had a mischievous nature. Her name was Valerie And Admiral Scorner decided to marry her. The wedding was held Onboard a 7-coach train. Although the pair didn't see her, Foxcote Manor was willing to take the strain. "Where have you taken me?" Asked Admiral Scorner, in a puzzled way. Mischievous Val replied, "Wait and see." The young man soon saw he and his wife were riding on the West Somerset Railway. When Admiral Scorner wasn't looking, Val sneaked up behind and kissed him on the cheek. Admiral Scorner was wondering what sort of dish might be cooking, While Val finished off his share of pie-filled ham and leek.
