Good old steam I remember a day in my youth being stuck at Crewe waiting for a connection and it was freezing so I sidled up the platform and stood beside the steam locomotive and got myself nicely warmed up, happier days then still young and no worries 😊

The steam train with its magical sound will never lose its fascinating! On one of these trains can be found Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson on the way to tackle a singular two-pipe mystery, while some distance up the track are Will Hay, Moore Marriott and Graham Moffat trying to work out when the next train is due at Buggleskelly!

I previously assumed The Green Knight's livery was ficticious! Happy to be proven wrong.😊

Strange to think just before closing in 1965 BR installed modern crossing barriers at Denstone, flashing lights n all.

I wonder if the original film is still available? I’m starting practicing film restoration and high quality scans of this would be perfect

A more up to date copy of this would certainly be a bonus with todays technology.

Thank you for sharing this and the other NSR films on your channel. George James Crosbie Dawson, my 2nd cousin 4x removed, was Chief Civil Engineer on the NSR from 1886-1914.
