@@jublacabra I might have wordes it wrong. What I meant was the Steam Deck itself and all it has to offer. Like portability and the way you can play all your games bought before, plus not restricting you to buy only on Steam. What turns me off with consoles is the exclusives because why the heck would I buy your console just to play a few game of yours with its overpriced price tag. Steam has a lot of sales. And now you need not worry about buying the same game again just to have a console experience.

Here's the problem.. 3rd party ports for switch will take a huge hit after steamdeck... Developers has more excuse now and to be honest they don't need to cut graphics to be on the go...even launching control or hitman on nintendo online was cool up until now.. will be able to play it with hardware..

@@Captain.Aly98 A lot of games don't need NVMe SSD speed, SD card speeds are plenty fast for most games. You can put your indie games on SD Card and reserve the internel SSD for AAA games that does a lot of streaming during gameplay but then the Steam Deck has 16GB of ram so it'll be streaming straight from ram without having to go to SD card too much to fetch data.

My wife and I work remotely and travel a ton in our VW Westy 83'. It's a mini-van. Charming vintage vehicle but definitely lacking in space. Smexy gaming laptop just isn't gonna work for our travel constraints and space. I hate using my 15'' laptop to game while in bed, for instance. This computer-in-a-switch-body is exactly what I need. My wife already has a switch but I love my pc games. I also dabble in emulation. Q1 secured...this thing is gonna be a game-changer for me, personally.

Just look at gpd or Aya neo... Think of it as, steamdeck has better performance than both with lesser price and quality built..Even with shortcomings, I think it'll be huge for current launched pc library.. Witcher 3,far cry series, ac series, horizon, uncharted, gears 5, mmos etc..10k+ games day one on steam is huge even if you leave next gen launches..

it's not just how long it takes to load. slower micro sd cards will cause stuttering guaranteed due to crappy read speeds.

it was my birthday today and was planning on sleeping in before the announcement yesteray, but after the announcement i instead set an alarm and woke up 5 minutes before reservations started and experienced an hour of preorder/reservation PTSD. Q2 2022 may only be January or February. No one has seen anything marked Q4 2021, so Valve's 2022 Fiscal Year may start in October 2021, which means those who got Q1 2022 will likely receive theirs in December

Keep in mind that this doesn't secure and order (not guaranteed), rather it's more like paying to get in line. So there is still a chance that people at the end of line may not get it on first batch or even second

Got my 512 Gb reservation. Took about 15 mins. Reloading steam, store crashes, task manager to close steam quickly, reload. Eventually I got there. Q1 reserve slot. personally don't get disappointed too quickly with your slot people. I pre-ordered a Valve Index day 1. I got a delivery date that was at least a month longer than when it actually arrived. So fingers crossed! Personally I probably would not have bought this if it wasn't for my Index experience. Which was great obviously. If the deck comes to delivering in anyway close to how the Index VR headset did I will be more than satisfied. I'm going to be an uncle in a week. So when the time comes to where my nephew can hold this, he will get it. Going to raise the boy into a PC nerd.

I was able to secure it at 3:22pm PST after trying since 1PM. I had it in my cart and was at the last part of the checkout process at 1:15PM and it froze on me. Almost gave up but luckily it sent me an email to continue the process and was able to do it that way (2hrs later)..but went through the same issues you went through. Now let's see when I get it

I live in Hawaii so the reservation event was from 7-830 in the morning. Long story short, it told me my account was too new and I'd have a chance to reserve on Sunday instead. Out and about for lunch, took a look at Steam and was happy to see that I could click on the 512gb model. I don't mind Q2 of next year, let's me save up. I got a 512gb around 12pm pacific…..This things about to be awesome. This is perfect for us dads over 30. I already have a huge backlog of steam games and being able to play Xbox game pass. I also have 60,000+ emulation games. The kids usually take up everything and I get most my entertainment from an iPad these days so this is perfect. I’m just hoping it delivers as promised.

Got a 512GB reserved, expected delivery Q2 2022 Keep this in mind, some companies use the last three months as the first quarter of the following fiscal year. Q1 2022 may mean October, November, or December of 2021. Apple is one such company that does this. Q2 2022 may mean January, February, or March 2022.

I really like the Valve handheld approach since handheld gives me Nostalgia. It pretty much is everything I would want when I was Younger but now I own a very high end gaming rig with a Asus Strix 2080 TI and can play everything on my Ultrawide monitor at 1440p So .. this would be cool to own but not really something I spend alot of time on since my PC does it better. I do like the Nintendo Switch (Just bought one and will get a second OLED version later this year for family members) , wish there was a Pro Switch.. the exclusives AAA Nintendo Games is whats keeping them in the game at this point..

I got a couple errors while pre-ordering but it seems like it was because of lag on Steam's end as like 20 minutes after my first click to preorder I got an email confirmation thanking me for my preorder. I plan to use this thing mainly to play games in bed. I'll probably take it with me on the go as I do have a backpack most places I go. I doubt this machine gets more than 3 hours of use per day though. Especially since I play games at 1440p ultrawide and my 2080ti is more than capable of giving me the 120hz I require as opposed to the 60 of Steam Deck. My preorder says I'll be able to fully pay it off quarter 1 of 2022 so I guess I'll be getting it Q2 of 2022. Which is fine with me as Nintendo Switch has around 5 games which I want to play this fall through Q1 of 2022.

I'm gonna use the steam deck to replace my current htpc which is just an old pc I built like 10 years ago. Steam deck will be more powerful, use less power, takes up way less space and you can take it with you. Plus it's an improved steam controller which is a huge plus for me.

I went with the 512gb as well, for 120 more you get double the hard drive space and better glass that was a no brainer for me. I didn't get my spot till a bit over 2 hrs. Thank you for the video I think this will be an amazing device and I hope more companies jump in on things like this.

It took me an hour to get hold of a 512gb model and was using both my main and guest steam accounts to maximize my chances, kept telling me I was attempting to many purchases in the last few hours. PS: I definitely agree the storage is too small on the base storage as a game such as apex legends wouldn't fit on the 64gb unit though at least a SanDisk Extreme or similar micro SD card should work okay for extra storage.

Pre-order was a nightmare. Steam crashed immediately. I had to refresh over and over. Then a message popped up saying I have attempted too many purchases and to come back "in a while". After about half an hour I was able to get back in. BUT, on my phone browser and in the app, it said my account was too new to pre-order (which was not true). Luckily the pre-order was still in my cart (only on my laptop). THEN my card was declined (probably due to 104 purchases that were submitted rapid fire, but never completed). I switched cards and secured a purchase of the 256 gig model. Now the Steam Deck pre-order page says that my pre-order is expected to be available Q1 of 2022. Ugh.

Had the same issue as you when getting my 512. Kept telling me there was an issue and then after many tries told me I tried too many purchases and to try again later. I had to leave for work so I ended up retrying during my break and was successful. Because of this I got the Q2 instead of the Q1 2022 lol
