Big isn't a problem. This isn't going in your pocket. I'm willing to trade big and heavy for comfortable, good battery life and performance.

The size and weight don't bother me as much if it can play games well. Also, I don't need games running at their highest settings. I can't even do that on my normal PC since I don't have a proper gaming PC. I think this review was made for the PC gamers that want everything to be at the top HD viewing and best particle effects and all that... I've been gaming on consoles and cheap PCs my whole life, from the OG gameboy and Vectrex home system to each generation of console since. I'm okay with okay settings as long as the gameplay doesn't suffer

Why the highest settings? Generally it is stupid to run at the highest settings in modern games since the visual feedback is nowhere near the performance impact. Generally it's super subtle. In Doom Eternal people would be hard pressed to see a difference between Normal and Ultra Nightmare. In Cyberpunk Going from High to Psycho only result in slight accuracy improvemnt rather than actually providing a visual upgrade. On a 7" screen, low or normal settings will work great. :) (and I say this with a proper modern and fully equipped desktop PC) Watch Hardware Unboxed video "Ultra Quality Settings are Dumb"

@@PixelShade you don't have to convince me. What I'm saying is that the review seemed to desire higher graphics comparable to PC monitor settings, and I'm happy with typical handheld settings that match my expectations for a Vita or Undocked Switch

Appreciate the review but any particular reason you didn't cover any features or how it works while docked? It has the ability to do that and if someone didn't know they would think it's only a handheld by your review.

The dock is not out yet. It will be coming out in late spring 2022. Bit of a letdown that it’s an additional purchase though

Docked with the official dock will be the same as docking currently with a standard USB-C dock. It provides additional ports and display output, but no performance upgrades or anything like that.

@@rustybroomhandle OK so you don't need the dock at if you want to play the game on a monitor then? Are you able to use a controller like a PS5 or Xbox controller via Bluetooth?

@@jayjayson9613 If you use any standard USB-C dock you have access to any ports it provides, HDMI, USB, whatever. And yes you can use Bluetooth controllers also.

Unless is a hardware issue. There's no need to wait for a second gen since Valve is updating the software rapidly. In a few months it should be al lot more features complete and higher compatibility

Quick question, how does raytracing perform? you can enable it in games that support raytracing by setting the launch options of a game that supports raytracing to: RADV_PERFTEST=rt VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command% and then enabling the option in the game's menu (it may not work for all games yet). I've yet to hear any coverage of how the performance is...

The Steam Deck is just awesome. Every Negative Point can easily be changed by knowing how to use it properly. I just can't wait to get mine

Not quite. Most games are not optimised. Meaning most dont work on it with only few hundred confirmed. The loading times are very long for an ssd, battery lastest for 3 hours and its heavy. These things are enough to ruin my fun

@@ormancadam6453 few what? It's 800+ at the moment. It has the best library for a console launch if you consider it to be a console. Besides, it's a guaranteed monster when games like god of war, horizon zero dawn, cyberpunk, elden ring, etc. work properly.

i honestly dont need a handheld anymore for these 4 times i'd use a plane I wouldn't wanna bring such an expensive thing with me anyways and for home I'll just use my gtx3060 rig that blows this handheld out of the water anyways for those who do, i do believe this is the way to go. I don't think you'll be able to play anything near as good as this stuff on a switch, except kids games with low textures

Expecting mouse like precision from the trackpad is foolish. That's what the Gyro is for. I know it works just like a trackball, I know there are people who can do mouse like precision on a trackball but I'm not those people and neither is almost anyone else.
