Good! Just keep in mind that as with XP and Vista, it will be possible to keep steam going on 7-8.1 for YEARS after 2024. Hell, even today it is possible to at least login an older Steam client (the last one supported) for XP and Vista. You just need root certificate and security updates installed.

@@KnightGlint only because of how disastrous Vista’s launch was, and even after the fact many were still using obsoleted hardware only really capable of running Windows XP. Most businesses and schools as far as I know, made partnerships with the likes of HP to replace those dying Dells once XP support died off in 2014 with ones running Windows 7 (due to the other fail which was Windows 8+)

Not entirely true as of May 17, 2024. Steam still runs and launches most games normally on my older PC with 8 on it. It has an angry red banner saying it will stop working in 0 days, but it still launches most games just fine. I found a way to get other games to launch in compatibility mode. They have stopped support, not killed it; it's just going to coast until it crashes into a wall. Thinking of converting that PC to Linux.

This will be a huge problem for many. Steam wants people who are on Windows 7/8/8.1 to upgrade their system to Windows 10/11 but many people probably cant because many computers dont fill in the system requirements for Windows 10/11.

When you buy a physical version of the game companies should stop adding steam account activation to play the game. I like a physical copy of the game running without steam support because in the future you won't get to play the games you installed directly into your steam account or own it. You need to upgrade to a new operating system in the future, which is not good at all. We need to bring back physical copy of the game installed directly into your desktop with no need of steam account. We soon will no longer own any games and we supporting these companies like steam, which are take over your gaming experience and accounts for good. I no longer will buy games from steam or buy a physical copy of the games that require steam account activation its just a waste of money supporting this company and not owning a title you bought.
