Another great video. The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad is quite amazing with their beautiful trains and rail line. Mccloud River Railroad #25 (Which is well known for appearing in Stand By Me from 1986) is quite cool to see in operation.

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🛤🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃🚂 they're one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎. He finds the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad very interesting and hopes that real soon or sooner than soon the entire line is restored and used again for both freight and passenger trains but he does not want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality!

Sounds like the 25 is in serious need of valve timing. The exhaust beats are not even and you can see the engine surging. Beautiful place to run, though!
@75Bird4554 жыл бұрын
I think something was loose. Listen to the exhaust beat at 4:17, then listen to it change when she slips. It changes again at the 2nd slip, then she starts to fight against herself.

+kcirred nosrednad I think they're stone tipplers. They have a high body mount that allows them to tip sideways.

Is it a three cylinder?
@michaelramsey827 жыл бұрын
It's a 2 cylinder. You can tell by listening to the chuffs - four chuffs per revolution of the drive wheels means 2 cylinders. 3 cylinder engines (which are quite rare in North America, but a few do exist) produce 6 chuffs per revolution.

Is there a complete map of the entire Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad? Do the often haul freight or was this just done for photo ops?
@dougrosenberg99946 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if a map is online, but the total length leased by OCSR is just over 46 miles which begins at the industrial park south of Tillamook and extends up into the Salmonberry River canyon, some of the most pristine rivers on the entire coast. The upper termination is a major washout that occurred in a 2007 flood. The route leaves the industrial park and goes through farmland, the industrial area of Tillamook, past the Tillamook Cheese Factory, then along Tillamook Bay, through Bay City and Garibaldi, then along the ocean, Nehalem Bay, and turns eastward just north of Wheeler where it goes up the Nehalem River and eventually the Salmonberry. No freight is currently hauled due to the line being severed from any outside connection. Previously as many as 3600 loaded cars were moved in a year, mostly lumber outbound, but also some grain inbound.
