VIC69 is still a regular on the River Medway, she was moored at Thunderbolt Pier a couple of weeks ago.

These puffers were designed to carry cargo to the islands on the west coast of Scotland. The places they offloaded their cargo often did not have suitable harbours so the ships were designed to be grounded and offload their cargo at low tide They were made famous by the Para Handy stories of Neil Munro. The BBC used the stories as the basis for several series of comedy shows where the puffer, named the Vital Spark was, in many ways, the star of the show

Still as built , exposed open bridge , just wood up to waist hight , the just a canvas screen
