We were with the steam trains two weeks ago - from Shipdam to Dereham in Norfolk and there were a group of people dressed in Army & Royal Air Force uniforms (with all the gear they had to carry too) from the 1940's ....as they would have been on leaving their villages for their regiments in the war. It was really nostalgic even though I wasn't around then. That is such a beautiful carriage you were in with Ray.

Great episode. The Bluebell looked blissful . Train journey's through the exquisite British countryside makes me nostalgic. As a child , every weekend my Mother and I would take the train from London where we lived to Southsea, where my Father was renovating a Georgian house on the seafron where we moved to. To this day one of my favourite things about returning home is taking the train and looking out on the gorgeous English countryside . Had to smile at you calling your muslim doctor a Christian .Love the flat hunting, from a Brit in Toronto

Love Sheffield Park especially when the Azaleas and Rhododendrons are out but any time of year it’s a lovely place to walk round. Not been on the train but have been on the station and the ticket office, loved it. Put train on my bucket list of things to do.

I live near the Severn Valley (steam) Railway and the journey to Bewdley is absolutely gorgeous. But the highlight of my 30-year Agatha Christie pilgrimage was seeing the original Orient Express pulling out of the railway station in Naples as we arrived - SO thrilling! Fab vlog. x

Hi from Annie, your outfits look great. That train trip would have been nice and relaxing with a meal, and nice company. The scenery was beautiful out in that countryside. The flat was too cramped and the noise would have bothered you a lot. Think something on the ground level would be best. With a nice sized garden to sit in and enjoy morning and afternoon teas etc Keep looking no rush. Take care.

I’m in love with the delightful Dr Ahmed he’s such a beautiful man and breaks into a smile constantly. He’s a real treasure. I used to take my children on the Bluebells railway every Christmas on the Santa special. Such nostalgia taking a ride on a steam train 🚂 We’re so blessed with beautiful countryside in Sussex. Great vlog Suzi! The Bluebell Railway trip looked fabulous. I agree with you about the flat you saw, it was beautiful and the proportions were excellent but I think it would cost a lot to add the en suite and if it’s already at the top of your budget then I don’t think you should stretch your finances if it’s not absolutely perfect. I loved the train! What a wonderful experience. The flat was beautiful, but you are wise to think of potential noise from upstairs and even downstairs. A lift is also important because as you had mentioned in a previous video, you want to travel and lugging a suitcase up and down stairs (even only one flight) could be difficult. Not to mention, bringing in groceries, etc. will get old very quickly. I’m sure that you will find your forever flat, keep looking and the right one for you and your budget will come along.

At Christmastime there is a festival in a small town here in Michigan. You can ride in the steam train, the Polar Express on which the book & movie is based on.

Interesting looking at the people passing by you in London - some in sun tops, others in padded jackets! It always amazes me some people's tolerance to heat! I've always been super sensitive to the tiniest change in the temperature. I didn't feel that flat had made the best use of the space. I'm guessing that's often the case in flats which are not purpose built though?

Loved the vlog Suzy… I loved that flat but you have to think of the practicalities don’t you. Loved the train too… I live in the north east and we went on the Northern Belle train line a few years ago and that was fab. Wouldn’t mind doing it again. Dr Ahmed is so sweet and great info so thank you. 😊
