Hey guys I have an aptitude test for the steamfitters local 420. I'm very worried and nervous about it. A buddy of mine took it and said it was extremely difficult. Does anyone know where I can find something that'll give me an idea as to what kind of material will be on it? Any info would be really appreciated.

Just took mine today lol the aptitude test wasn't terrible just common sense. Math was the hardest part.

i am almost finished with my welding courses and am looking at all the opportunities out there. steamfitting seems like a real solid field with lots of opportunities. how does one get into this like of work? is it mostly a union gig? any advice for someone looking to break into this line of work?

*To start:* depends on country and state/province but it's around the $16-19/hr range. *2nd year:* varies but I've talked to some apprentices and the consensus is around the low to mid 20's range, *3rd & 4th year:* again it varies but probably just below or at $30/hr. I've talked to red seal steamfitters on job sites and some of them said they were making upward of $50-55/hr, the premium pay comes when you got at least 5 years as a red seal (doing your own side hustle).

the red seals on job sites and they said they make over $50/hr. The real premium money comes when you've gained experience at the red seal level and begin charging by the job (you can make a couple thousand in a day).

Dude he needs to get over him self. Op works a demanding job and makes plenty of $$. Op os like i want a clean house but I don't want to spend time to do so because i want to be with the family. Op hires a cleaning service so she can be a partner and a parent. I don't understand her husband if i could afford a cleaning service for basic cleaning i would.
