Inspired by a kundiman song called Ako'y Iniwan Mo
"The song is about a woman who is left behind by her lover for another woman
and halfway through the song there is a spokenword section where its a letter
by the unfaithful dude and it's like telling the listener to feel bad for the guy
and probably forgive him. i find it weird why a song would want us to empathize/sympathize
with a cheater and i've come to the conclusion its probably due to the composer's
roman catholic values, forgiveness and all, the thought irritated me a bit so i've
decided to make a tagalog song where the opposite happens and have a bloody ending"

Lyrics
Sabi mo ako'y ang tanging iibigin
Salungat ang aking nadama
Patuloy-tuloy pa rin ang aking puso
Naniwala sa ating sumpaan
Pre-Chorus
Bathala bakit nagkaganyan
Ako bang may sala
Parang ako'y pinagtampuhan
Panalangin ng aking katinuan
Nawa ay hinding siphayo ang aking mapala
Chorus
Dibale, O aking sinta ika'y pinatawad
'Di na kailangan magpaliwanag pa
Mahal pa din kita
Chorus
Nais ko sanang itanong kung sino ba ang totoo
Panalangin ko sana na walang iba
Nais ko sanang itanong sinong hitad ba ito
Tigil na ang duda
Tiwalang iningatang iyong pinatay
Bridge
Bahay kubo dahil maliit

For those wondering what those "Mirror with an Eye" are, those are Lover's Eye. Those aren't mirrors... In Europe back during Regency & the Early Victorian period, there was a love trend that I don't doubt was also known in the Philippines (which I wish to see someday cause I doubt our country hasn't tried that sh*t yet even in a short period of time). This love trend is to have someone or yourself paint a miniature portrait of your lover's eye and have your friends guess who it is...

"Ang cariñosa" This song is based on a a Filipina who had a lover, her lover cheated on her with a lady... But, instead of forgiving him.. she killed him.. A very dark story indeed, a new inspiration for my mind... Why did I never find this sooner, it's so rare to see a dark Filipino song based on a folk song I'm loving every bit of it

Yeah sad that we don't get much dark-topic songs. Though ig it kinda makes sense because A.) This country is religious af, B.) parents scold us for celebrating Halloween and saying we might accidentally kill someone because scary looking, C.) Christmas. Since September. We started fucking Christmas. I'm born, raised and live here in the Philippines and I absolutely despise Christmas. Like I'm already scared of my birthday since my parents might play Christmas songs more often at that day... 💀

I;m jsut glad school shooting or bombing isn't much of a thing here. My school is fully face to face since I'm in private school and yeah. god when bahay kubo started i fucking froze. scared the shit out of me i think that made the song much more chilling to listen to with the folk song-sound and the art and the story/lyrics, it feels like looking back on old memories, but without the rose colored glass of nostalgia, so it's all just. bitterness. like holding on to something long dead just because it's shaped who you are so much, you can't fully let it go/forget it whole thing's just amazing, i love it. kudos to everyone who worked on this. happy buwan ng wika lol

I feel like the mirrors mean something-they signify the emotions that the woman felt during the course of events in this song. Black tears mean she’s sad, grieving or sorrowful. Having discovered her (presumably) husband’s escapades (2:25), the tears started to run down when she realized that he broke her trust. The eyes kept crying for the remainder of the song up to the part where she finally did what she wanted to do (4:34). The cracks in the mirror mean that she’s furious. The first time they appear is when she’s cursing the woman whom the husband had an affair with (3:28) and the second time is when she finally killed him. No sadness at that point, just pure hatred (4:34). The red eyes symbolize her murderous intent, which first appeared when she sang about the limbs barely fitting inside the nipa hut (3:09). Notice how she decided to hold the dagger until the end, except for the times where she had to conceal it whenever he’s around (4:01). Just like the tears suddenly disappearing, the eyes go back to brown once she takes his life. That’s just my interpretation though!!! Feel free to reply with your insights and suggestions ahah✨ (Oh my god I haven’t checked the comments section since this song came out on Spotify😭 Thanks guys! Today I learned that those mirrors are actually pieces of lover’s eye jewelry and she starts holding the knife at 2:25… probably means that killing was just a fleeting thought on the back of her mind at first upon immediately seeing him.)

If any of you guys wanna understand the theme or story of this song. I'm a Filipina, and I can already catch where this is going even with the dark themes. The story is about two lovers. The most cliché thing from Filipino love/romantic shows is that there will always be drama in the way. The lady is in love with this man, so does the man she loves. They promised that they will be together forever. As a Filipino, you would hear that phrase. A lot. And all of us know that that promise will never last until one woman decided to steal her lover. Which leads the lady to be heartbroken. Started grow in jealousy. Even tried to beg to the man she loves to stay with her, but he changed his mind and forgotten the promise. Describes him to be unfaithful and decided to love the new woman.... Then here's the dark part. When the lady sang Bahay Kubo, which is actually actually a song of living in a household. She started to go rouge and chose to kill the man who betrayed her. As you can see. She stabbed him through the heart.

Here's what I think the story portrays: A woman and man, dating back to the 1910-1920 in Philippines time, have been married, but not for long to the point they have kids. The man has been leaving alot for no reason, leading to the woman to believe he has been seeing someone else. The woman asks the man alot, but the man denies all. As soon as her doubt calms down, she witnesses the man with another lady. Stress grows inside her, as she still loves him, essentially turning her into a yandere. I believe the line where she says my face is covered in green signifies she turns jealous. Bahay kubo or nipa hut is a popular Philippines folk or nursery rhyme. The lyrics are originally like this: Bahay kubo (Nipa hut) Kahit munti (even if small) Ang halaman doon ay (the plants inside still) Magsari sari (fit together) Singkamas, at talong| Sigarilyas at mani. |. Basically vegetables Sitaw, bataw, patani. | But the video goes as : Bahay kubo (nipa hut) Dahil munti (because it's small) Ang nagtipon doon ay (the ones that came over) Hindi nag-ari (did not go well) Katawan, ulo (A torso, a head) Bisig ng ina (a mother's loving arm) Ay walang nang paglagyan (there's no more space) Para kay kuya (for big brother / eldest male) I believe the woman killed the man in a rage as she called the other lady a witch, saying she seduced him. She was then executed, although that's just what it hink what happened.

Ang Cariñosa in my point of view and it's details 0:21 There's a woman who it seems her husband start ignoring and leaving her, and in this part she is like singing this to vents all her feelings out 0:39 Her husband sillhouete appeared on behind her, perhaps it's her point of view where her husband always ignoring her and starts making both of them not knowing each other anymore, and start became dark as sillhouete. She also starts to moving around here, maybe it's as if she and her husband is on the opposite side. 1:01 Lover's eye start to open, and their movement became a bit faster, perhaps in our eyes it seems as a dance, but who knows their dance is symbolize as harsh argument with her attacking her husband with tons of question. However this time she doesn't found anything and just believing that her husband isn't lying to her although her feeling says no. 1:43 On this part it seems she was abused by her own husband with giving her "Lilac blooming mark" that given once she ask for his loyaltiness to her.. This lilac blooming mark is probably a punch mark, slap mark or something like that. Explains why her emotional explodes uncontrollably. 2:02 She starts to move, but without her husband this time. Because in here, she saw her husband with other girl doing something that so unbearable for her to see. Her movement is signing and symbolized as disappointment, anxiety, angers and sadness. Also that clicking instrument (idk what name it's) fits the situation of rebellious act of her husband 2:13 A little bit of violins instrument added here, as if she was really angry and disappointed, yet at same time she really really loves him that making her hard to move-on and wishing her husband to be her, and saying that he's forgiven. 2:25 The interesting part begin, the lover's eyes starts to crying blood, symbolizes the feelings within her now. Also if she turns to the left, a knife appeared, but once she turned to the right the knife was gone, there is about legend saying that left is devil and right is angel, so perhaps she is ambigous to decide to take revenge on her husband, if she turns to left, it shows her anger towards her husband but when she turned to the right it's shows her love that she still love her husband even knowing for so long that he makes affairs from her. 2:37 When the part "Hitad" she turned to left and showing her knife side, as if she doesn't looks mercy on the other girl and even insulted here her. Showing her hatred and grudges also her devil side to that girl. 2:49 The knife seems is gone and their movement became slower, probably she already tired with those useless argument and thinking she needs to make an act now rather than useless argument. 3:04 Lover's eyes were closed, the flames in candles are so also extinguished. Showing her totally feelings now, she probably left her husband to do some malicious acts. 3:09 Bahay Kubot is a fillipino traditional folk song, she sings that to vents her feelings now, even changed the lyrics of it. The eye's lovers also start to open again with the bloody tears, but this time, the eye's lovers color starts to became more redder than before, showing her muderous intention. 3:28 The candles starts to turned be ignited with flames again, the eye's lovers are cracked, still with those scarlet blood-teared eyes. I do wish there are bloods in here too.. Becausei like to think that in here she is murdering the girl that affairing with her husband. Showing her climax of grudged and hatred and venting all of them here. 3:48 It then darks again, and now her ambitious to murder her husband was firm, and she prepared to go to her husband place now. 4:01 As she moves to her husband place, i like to think this part linked with flashback of her and her hushand when first met, married etc. She flashbacked all of those still with her Blood-teared scarlet lover's eyes where like i said before where red usually signed as murderous intent. 4:26 I like to imagine in here she was arrived, then she tell this infront of her husband while holding the bloody knife that she used to kill that coquette before. 4:34 WALANG PWEDENG MAKATAMO!!! She now murdered her husband, although her sadness now gone, and her muderous intent succeded, she still really hates and love him. It's symbolized with that Eye's lovers there. 4:58 I like to imagine this part where she and her "deceased" husband's corpse are dancing around the bloody room that she made, with her smiles and happy now that she able to make him hers forever and eternity. Just as other comment says, there are church organs and wedding bells. Now they are both forever🥰🥰 5:15 I like to imagine her hugging tightly her husband heart, which in her mind is still beating, with her joyous smirks, they are together forever, what a happy ending❤

@italianspaghetti9056
@italianspaghetti9056 2 жыл бұрын
How I interpret the song is that she's a lady in the 16th century who had been arranged into a marriage for money based on the silhouette of the man having a rich attire. The "mirrors" (lover's eyes) represent the emotions she may be feeling. When mascara is running from it, it represents sorrow (duh), cracks represent anger, while red eyes represent killing intent. Closed eyes also represent thought, or reflection. On some parts after she realized he is participating on adultery, sometimes the dagger appears and sometimes it doesn't. If you take it metaphorically, you could take it as her pondering on whether or not to kill them, as it sometimes appears and disappears, or on a literal sense, it could mean the girl hiding the dagger from the boy. When they dance after it's all bloody, I represent it as the girl killing the other girl he's having an affair with, making him heart broken and it makes the eyes in the mirror normal, but then she kills the boy, turning it back red, implying that she may go out for more blood.

@visceraet
@visceraet 3 жыл бұрын
(I had a really fun time translating the lyrics, I tried my best to keep the beauty of the original one, hopefully it’s good enough..)
