Some call it the City of Dreams, its nickname, The Fay City. The city cradles factories of the working class, and mansions of the super-rich, creating a spectrum so wide, only a city such as The Fay could hold its components. But one day the inner workings of this city were destined to change forever by a revolution-a revolution bound to be birthed from the deepest machinery in this superficially perfect invention that was doomed from the start. The prologue to my novel :)

This song is amazing, a true tone poem. I had this entire story in my head while I listened. I envisioned an adolescent nestled in a formless dream, waking to the sound of a rusted city drawing breath. I saw him awaken, one of many, and ready for a day destined to be identical to the many thousands that came before it. I saw him walk as one amongst many, a cog in the machine, the music of his soul lost in the litany of those harsh mechanical things keeping a constant time: 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3...

Cedric Scorch Thanks, just started a full blown fantasy screenplay. In which there are nine objects which teleport you to nine different places in another realm. A young man goes into an old pet shop and sees a fish tank which is ancient old with gold casing and no fish inside (It is one of the nine objects) - if you touch the water within the fish tank it teleports you to a beachy shore within another land. The 50-year-old owner and the 18-year-old touch the water and go on an adventure in this mysterious realm. It is a cross between The Golden Compass (Northern Lights) By Philip Pullman and Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne.
@eDrIClImOAnCo9 жыл бұрын
The Anti-Theist How does that work with the cross world idea? Does the old man touch the water and instantly submerges into the ocean?
@TheClassicWorld9 жыл бұрын
Cedric Scorch Yes, you touch the water and you are submerged/teleported into the fish tank and when you surface you are in the ocean of the other realm. (So you've been submerged and teleported). This effect can be seen within The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I am currently noting down what the other eight objects are and where they will teleport you. I have nicely named one of the main characters (The shop owner and keeper of the portal tank whom has looked after it for 30 years goes into the realm with the 18 year old) his name is Kai Alika which means 'ocean guardian". Feel free to ask any other questions you might have, - well, with regards to anything really. I am quite learned, I like to know everything about everything. Hhaa :)

I bought this album, and I love it. The different storylines are all cleverly interwoven, and the evolution of New Albion is very interesting. My only problem is the lack of an 's' on the end of 'math', in Annabel's Lament, which is a little jarring for my British ears, but that has far more to do with being divided by a common language than any fault on the lyricist's part, and indeed that is one of the best songs on the album. Buy it, and you won't be disappointed.
@Ansem1000012 жыл бұрын
I bought the complete Steampunk Opera album, I love it! It's good to hear that some people actually give it a more steampunk related music, with clocks sounds, deep trombone tones in it etc. Most of the steampunk bands I see and hear, are just people who dress up in steampunk style. The music of theirs is only rock, not steampunk themed. Please make some more background/instrumental tracks, you can make some incredible steampunk music =) *subscribed to channel*

Guille2033 Or a steampunk like action role play group (LARP). I run with a group called Steam Dreams here in Australia. My guild is the Cup and Sorcerers. Our guild is known for its technical knowledge of chemistry which grants us an in-game advantage with the crating of medicines and performance enhancers similar to the substance EVE in Bioshock. Its a really interesting game!! and to be honest, I much prefer the physical interaction of live action role play to table top role play. But each to their own.

I like! It is soothing enough for an overture yet mechanical enough to set the mood for the rest of the opera. To me it felt like it transitions nicely and flowed through the entire piece. I was feeling a little of Danny Elfman with a lot of Paul Shapera. Can't wait to hear the rest of it.

I imagine a simple toymaker, tinkering with various little knick-knacks and gizmos in his small simple shop, but as he locks up for the night, we see him descend into the basement and into a darker world, one where his daughter has been dead for a year. but he's been busy. Busy crafting the perfect little doll. The perfect little girl that sings and dances and plays just like she did. He loves the doll, but he knows it's not really her. But he's heard whispers of a way to change that...
Steampunk, of course! It's a synthesis of Victorian-style themes, the power/idea of steam, and modern instruments.
