Magnificent flying and Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" from my era (I'm 73). Have maintained and flown a Stearman now for 28 years. Back in 2002, Dad and I flew the "Old Girl," as we called her, from St. Pete., FL, to Houston, TX. It took us 3 days! Dad was 86 at the time (a WW II Veteran who was a B-17 pilot with the 381st BG at Ridgewell). He did most of the flying! You can drive this trip in a day and a half but then, when you're in a Stearman, you're already where you want to be! A wonderful memory with Dad. Enjoying the videos Rod! We organised 4 Stearmans for the North Weald Formation School a few years ago. Sadly we weren’t able to get more than 3 in the air at any one time. Some of the most demanding flying I’ve done!

Hello Ian! So glad you are enjoying the videos. Formation flying is certainly demanding and great fun in learning and mastering. My favorite flight this season was the Malden Tail-chase 6-ship. We have another Stearman Flight Gathering May 20-23 at the Beechcraft Heritage Museum with huge grass runways in Tullahoma, TN if you happen to be in the States!

Great video. Thank you! The view of that red sunset was absolutely beautiful. This brought back fond memories of flying my Starduster Too biplane about two decades ago. I’m too old now...good judgement keeps me “grounded”.
