General Tran Quang Khoi commanded the 3rd Amoured Brigade until 1100am 30/4/1975 . He was on the last 4 generals released by the communist after 17 years of imprisonment

Today January 31 2018 Millions of Vietnamese in Vietnam both North and South wished the ARVN was the ones that Unify Vietnam. They still hope one day ARVN return to Vietnam, that's wishful thinking. Communist of Vietnam lost all it credibility with the people of Vietnam, so maybe one day the people of Vietnam themself needed to remove Communist of Vietnam from govern the country, and establish new ARVN that they missed.

Really? The people realized that the ARVN is more better than the NVA "Liberators"?

It was a pity that the ARVN did not have a chance to grow stronger and to show the world what it was capable of. Many younger, more capable leaders of the ARVN stayed back with their troops and defended their land until the end. Many sacrificed their lives for their country after the U.S. withdraw, and thousands of them died or suffered much in the hard labor camps of the communists after 1975.

It is a pity indeed. Imagine an "alternative world" where the ARVN have that chance. If that is so, Vietnam might be eventually unified under republic rule with Saigon as its capital (instead of Hanoi); that particular Vietnam we imagined, would be more like Japan & South Korea---where their economy would spread & become well-developed; which would further boost & modernize the ARVN military. Heck, that particular ARVN military we imagined, would be more powerful than the real life modern day commie PAVN army.

You couldn't stand a chance with China in border. Some things happening, because there's no alternatives

They was stronger than North, from beginning to the end. South Vietnamese leadership never used this might correctly. US betrayed RV, and South Vietnamese leaders betrayed their men.

we cut their ammunition by 75% in 2 years, they didnt have a chance in 1975

totally agreed with you . Only if the Americans delayed their withdraw for another 2 years allowing the best educated officer corp & enlisted soldiers to mature with new fighting tactics then the outcome of the war could be different & many of the brightest & dedicated soldiers might died in the so called re-education camps

Very glad to see Col Ha Mai Viet given a platform by the US Army Heritage and Education Center. There is a misleading narrative in American popular understanding of the Vietnam War, with it often being described as the US fighting "the Vietnamese", in at best ignorance and at worst deliberate erasure of the South Vietnamese people and servicemen we were aiding in their struggle against Communism.
