Thanks for doing this! About the restraints... From what I heard, it originally had the Morgan big bucket trains, but a wheel came off one of them and hit someone in the pool. He survived, but he did break ribs/a hip. So they replaced the trains with B&M ones.
@laju5 жыл бұрын
Yes, these are new trains. I rode this on the original trains, but I cannot really compare them to anything since I've not really ridden any other big ones. They didn't even have the Hakugei back then, there was "White Cyclone" at the same location.

This was (and still is) the biggest coaster I’ve ever ridden and man, it was beyond anything I had ever experienced. I had no idea it was even at the park, or famous - I’d only visited on a whim with a couple of backpackers I met the day before. Nearly had kittens when I saw it on the horizon from the bus window. We beelined straight for it once we got in and it was only as the cars were climbing up the hill that I became aware of what I was in for. The ground seemed forever away but when I looked back up, the coaster was only a third of the way up. The first fall was so long and so fast, we were falling for ages, then there were two more big hills after the first. The whole ride was just FUN. I loved the little hills at the end too, making my belly do backflips the whole way. Couldn’t stop laughing when I got off. I’m sure there are better coasters out there, but if I could choose any ride in the world to visit, I’d go back to this one. It’s special. 🐉

Taylor just reminded me of when I went to Cedar Point for the first time and rode Steel Vengeance in the pouring rain. It was an unforgettable ride experience because not only were we on the back row getting insane ejector airtime, but the rain got us completely soaked and it hurt like little bullets hitting your face. I was trying to hold my hands up, but I kept lowering them towards my face to cover it from the rain, my Step Dad next to me had his rain jacket completely zipped up and covering his head. It was crazy, and I was laughing for so long after we got off. I will never forget that ride on Steel Vengeance in the rain.

Probably because there are things that you could kick or hit your feet on. Because it was originally built with boxy, enclosed trains, it wasn’t built with clearances for trains that allow riders to have free leg movement.

Before I even watch this review, I just want to say that Steel Dragon 2000 is an amazing anamoly of a coaster. It's the only giga that feels like a supersized hypercoaster ala Magnum. It truly is Super Magnum and definitely one of the best I've ever ridden. I honestly couldn't determine if I preferred Hakugei or SD2000, it's awfully close. The turnaround on this thing is just epic.
@mforce31025 жыл бұрын
Team Fortress 2 MEDIC! Team Fortress 2 MEDIC! It's a pretty good review though I can't say I completely agree with everything. Having the open and much more comfortable B&M trains is a clear plus over the older Morgan trains so I'm not sure why that is a questionable/negative aspect. Sure the clamshells are unnecessary but that's just Japan for you. Most of the rest of his points I agree with except for the sensation of speed: this ride definitely feels very, very fast to me except on the bunny hops on the trip back to the station. And for me the large turnaround is also a major plus, it's much better than a long, drawn out helix or just an ordinary turnaround like B&M's usually have, and I especially love the steady positive G's it provides, especially as the end of the turnaround when you are hauling past the mall low to the ground. It is admittedly not Fury, but that's to be expected. Maybe the heavy rain affected his opinion on it. I fortunately got to ride Steel Dragon many times, to me it was very re-ridable and I definitely would rather be on the coaster instead of watching it. SO all in all I give this 7.5/10 review of Steel Dragon 7.5 and I'd give Steel Dragon itself an 8.5/10. I def agree that it's the least good of the 3 gigas I've ridden, with MForce barely edging it out, and Fury far and away in the front.

This is basically a giga coaster with a ‘hyper coaster’ layout as it is packed with airtime hills as opposed to being all about intense transitions and staying low to the ground. My thoughts are that this coaster would be better if it were actually B&M but back then, B&M was just starting to make hypers and didn’t create their first giga until 2012. Still, if I ever get a chance to go to Japan, I will definitely check Nagashima Spa Land out.

I know that feeling- riding a Giga, front row, in the pouring rain. I got a ride like that with Fury 325 this year and I was the only person in the front row. It was great and painful all in one shot. I'm guessing this wasn't even your second favorite ride in the park after Hakugei.
@bluedragon99253 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the whole reason the B&M trains were added was so the park could avoid a repeat of an accident from 2004 that left the ride SBNO for nearly two years where one of the wheels on the original Morgan trains flew off and struck a guest visiting the water park. This would make sense since the B&M trains are much lighter and have much easier to access wheel assemblies, making for easier maintenance. This might also be a possible explanation for the shin guards, as unnecessary as they are. It's kinda like the shoulder pads they added to Mindbender at Galaxyland. They don't need to be there at all, but the park management probably insisted on having them anyway just to reassure any skeptical GP guests that the ride is safe.

I kinda agree even tho I have not ridden this. It does look like a fun ride for sure but it does not seem like the best giga coaster. I would say Leviathan is better because of the superior airtime and speed during the ride and that ride is also pretty much a huge hyper coaster. But B&M made it so well into a giga because of that speed. I think the B&M trains are a lot better on this coaster than the original Morgan trains even if the track isn't as smooth but ain't rough. Again looks really fun but nothing noteworthy i would say. I think Morgan did the best they could tho so i will give em credit for that :)
