Hey Lochlainn. Thanks for teaching this flow. This is the first flow I learned with my mace. It took only an hour or so. It really is a flow made simple.

I really like the breakdown of the "intersections"! I can already tell that's going to help things click when I'm trying to flow. Looking forward to seeing more videos like these ⚔
@flowmadesimple Жыл бұрын
Let's go!!! Intersections are a key concept for mace flow 🙌 I'll give you the real secret: EVERYTHING in mace flow is a possible intersection, it's just a matter of knowing how to navigate it. Have a blast exploring!

After watching only 5 or 6 of your excellent and efficacious vids I think it is clear that you have, unfortunately, the most under-appreciated top level mace channel going. I am only a few weeks into my mace journey so these moves are not without challenges - but your flows feel very familiar in the ways that they resemble Tai Chi; as such, I can see them also working very well taken at quite a slow pace. Many thanks for your generosity, commitment and positivity!

I burst out laughing as I read your first sentence 😂 I do have a bit of a conundrum there! But seriously, thank you for your appreciation because its one of the main reasons I keep sharing videos 🙏 Congratulations on beginning and excelling in your mace journey! There are certainly challenges, but you clearly have the attitude to handle them gracefully. I'm very inspired by Tai Chi and find that I naturally move in very circular motions. There is something inherently beautiful about it to me and I also find that it increases my range of motion and coordination. I love that you mentioned moving at a slow pace - it is one of the most profound ways of practicing. It enables greater sensitivity and awareness of the technique at hand. Speed is fun too, but you know what they say, slow is smooth and smooth is fast! May the mace be with you, my friend!
@dcartier16927 ай бұрын
@@flowmadesimpleYes, speed comes easily with more familiarity. I decided to work on a number of individual elements to improve strength and mobility - including the 3 transitions here - which has equipped me to now put more together into flows. I have upped my weight from 4.5kg to a 6kg for 2 handed moves, but I realise that the starting 10 pound will likely remain the ideal for flows - and I have a couple of lighter and shorter (2.5kg & 4 kg ~80cm) for warmups, single armed 360s and an easier way into coin flips, etc. Thanks again for your continued inspiration!

Let's go!!! Reading this progress update made my morning. Amazing progress in 2 months, I'm very proud of you! You clearly know how to pick what to learn and have the patience to learn it at an even and sustainable pace. I'm glad you've experimented with other mace weights too - the different weight distribution changes the flow experience significantly. Definitely let me know if you have any questions as you continue on your mace journey. Keep learning and exploring - you're crushing it, my friend!

@flowmadesimple That's awesome! Thank you for considering my request! I just tried the Sea Serpant Flow today. Struggling abit with "around the world" intersection. I'm panning out and going all over the place. Hard to keep it close to your body as you turn. Will try slowing down during this move and see if that helps.
@flowmadesimple Жыл бұрын
Nice!! Definitely keep exploring with that one, I know you'll get it 🙏 Keep in mind that how vertically you can point the mace will make it easier to control and will automatically help you keep it closer to your body! Happy flowing!

Hello sorry if you cover elsewhere. Curious are you using a 7 or 10lbs mace for your flows? Also which brand do you tend to use?
@flowmadesimple Жыл бұрын
Great question! Most of the time I’m using an Onnit 10lb steel mace, but sometimes I use an Onnit 20lb. I also do use 7lb maces, and my favorite brand for those is Yes4All on Amazon. Most maces are of comparable quality, but I tend to find that Onnit’s are the best. Set for Set and White Lion Athletics are also very good. Hope this helps! Thanks for your comment :)
